Certified Dialysis Technician

Gratiot Medical Center

As a dialysis technician I opened the whole unit at 4:30 am. This means that I get the water room up and ready for the day. That entails water checks and meter readings. Techs make bicarbonate and acitate which is what will clear the blood of toxins and help make the blood as close to homeostasis as it can durring treatment. Technician's also have an assignment of four patients with three shifts of patients. The technician is responsible for getting the patient's vital signs, and weight. Tx is then initiated by cannulation  of a fistula or graft or by connecting to a central line. Technician's monitor the patient and perform any trouble shooting nessecary. Technician's also terminate the treatments and make sure that the patient is stable before they leave the unit. There is an abundance of other important tasks that technician's perform and I would love to talk about that if any one is interested.

Davenport University

My first objective is to graduate next year with a bachelor's degree in health service administration.

My second objective would be to gain more personal experience in this field and to find a career with a company that is a great fit for me. When I find the correct company for me I know that I will be a valuable asset to tht company. I love education and I have a great ambition to teach others. My emotional agility allows me to teach others easily and help them to feel at ease.
