Based in Taunton, Massachusetts, Ohlson Packaging has more than 40 years of experience building automated packaging systems for both large corporations and small, family-owned businesses. One of the company's newest clients, the Dancing Deer Baking Company, came to Ohlson Packaging to find solutions for specific issues created by its rapid growth. In its work for Dancing Deer Baking Company, Ohlson deployed a 3M2 three-scale weighing system to package the company's fragile cookies. The automated process, which replaced a hand-packaging operation, has more than doubled product output while cutting labor costs in half. Designed for a minimal drop height, the system prevents the cookies from chipping and breaking, and uses low-angle slides to package them gently. Its automated weighing system ensures that individual bags are not under-filled, which has cut product giveaway to less than 0.5 percent. For further automation and higher production rates, Ohlson Packaging offers gentle handling combination weighers and a variety of automatic bagging machines including vertical form, fill and seal machines and automatic baggers for pre-made, re-closable standup pouches.
