"Olivia Dolch embodies all of the criteria that more than distinguish her as an outstanding student employee working on campus. In September of 2008, the secretary who served part-time in the English Department Creative Writing Program and part-time in the Women's Studies Program (both programs sharing the same main office) relocated to another position on campus. Although there were many secretarial duties that Olivia was not able to perform, she nonetheless attempted to keep necessary personnel informed. In December of 2008, the secretarial position was eliminated and the Creative Writing Program duties were distributed among the remaining English Department secretaries.I cannot tell you how thankful I am to be able to work with a quality student worker such as Olivia Dolch. Being short-staffed and having to take on additional job responsibilities midyear, I could not have accomplished all that I needed to if it was not for the exceptional capability of this intelligent young woman. Going beyond what I normally would have expected a student worker to deliver, Olivia not only helped me organize over a hundred applications which flows constantly into the MFA program, but routinely took on the major lead with little direction. Anything I asked her to do was done exceptionally well so I could continue my normal routine without worry. I must say that with all the fine student workers I have had the pleasure of working with over two decades Olivia with her positive attitude does indeed stand out. Her quiet manners and respectful attitude towards staff and faculty goes without notice. With the downsizing of support staff throughout academic units across campus, I know secretaries are now more than ever dependent upon their student workers. This is indeed the case with our student worker Olivia. Her speedy response to the workload and shared ideas has made the absorption of the Creative Writing program a smooth transition. It is with the utmost enthusiasm that I endorse Ms. Olivia Dolch for Outstanding Student Employee Working on Campus. Thank you."
