A respected and highly trained psychologist, Kathryn Dardeck, Ed.D. specializes in disaster mental health. An alumna of Boston University, Kathryn Dardeck received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She completed her graduate studies at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she earned her Master's degree in Psycholinguistics in 1979 and her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 1985. In addition to her intensive psychotherapeutic training, Kathryn Dardeck served as Eastern Massachusetts Internship Coordinator at the University of Massachusetts’ Office of Internships. Kathryn Dardeck also held the positions of Assistant Director of Career Counseling and Assistant Dean of Students at Amherst College.In addition to her full-time clinical practice at Ascendant Psychiatric & Consulting Center, LLC, where she is Senior Psychologist and Clinician, Kathryn Dardeck provides consultation and instruction in disaster mental health. A certified American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Worker and International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. instructor in school crisis response, Kathryn Dardeck regularly works with emergency medical services personnel and received a Presidential Citation from the American Psychological Association for her role in facilitating and providing disaster response services after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Frequently invited to speak about her expertise in disaster mental health and trauma response, Kathryn Dardeck authored the articles "Living with Chronic Uncertainty in a Post-9/11 World" and "Reflections from Ground Zero."Kathryn Dardeck currently teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at the Lesley University Graduate School of Psychology and Walden University. A member of the American Psychological Association and a Fellow of the Massachusetts Psychological Association (MPA), Kathryn Dardeck chairs the MPA Disaster Response Network training program. She previously held clinical advisory positions at Western Massachusetts Emergency Medical Services, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services, and Northeast Permanente Medical Group, among others.
