Mobility Operations Manager

Management of the Mobility Operations infrastructure for GE Corporate with an offshore team of 16 engineers; incident and problem management to meet customer SLA; subject matter expert and mentor for the team to resolve complex issues quickly and accurately; coordinate with database and VMware teams; train helpdesk personnel on new processes and procedures as they change.

Manage 36 Windows 2003 servers running Blackberry Enterprise Server version 4.1.6 and 5.0; 51,000 Blackberry smart phone users and 5,000 Microsoft ActiveSync users utilizing Apple’s iPhone and iPad; reduce mean time to repair (MTTR), evaluate process and create accurate written documentation to expectations.

Network Operations Manager

Contracted to General Electric Energy’s Global Wide Area Network infrastructure team. Manage 14 network engineers in 5 locations operating 24/7 support, design and installation of over 4,000 network devices worldwide. Technologies include Frame-Relay, VPN, ATM, wireless and satellite connectivity.

Achievement of optimal SLA mandated by General Electric; conduct daily staff meeting to update activities, analyze problems and assign projects; process development and documentation; monitor projects; direct liaison to GE’s upper management and to attend weekly meetings insure correct focus is maintained; liaison with telecom vendors such as Verizon, AT&T, MCI and Sprint. Created a tollgate process using Six Sigma rigor to insure all aspect of the infrastructure was properly and accurately documented. Designed standard drawing templates in Visio to be followed by the design engineers to better support operations.

Manage employee database for tracking timesheets, annual performance reviews and raises; motivate and encourage growth in staff members’ technical career and advancement for the betterment of the contract; key in recommending staffing requirements within the infrastructure.

Contracted to General Electric Power Systems to implement the conversion of domestic and global Wide Area Network infrastructure within 180 locations to newer technology changing from point to multipoint architecture to a more advanced ATM to Frame-Relay technology, also utilizing HSSI and IMA technology based on ATM and T1 multiplexing; design and develop procedures for the installation and maintenance of Tachyon Satellite solutions for sites world wide utilizing site-to-site VPN as well as VPN over internet; assisted in the design and implementation of VOIP within the GE Schenectady campus; resolve ATM and Frame Relay network issues to resolve network outages.

Liaison to GE Network management and to Telco vendors to provide new circuits and troubleshoot problems within the infrastructure; technical lead engineer overseeing eight network engineers focusing on WAN and LAN issues; lead contact for major outages to work closely with remote sites to resolve issues in the network; coordinate with hardware vendors for replacement “RMA” equipment verifying cost and availability; coordinate with the security team to implement TACACS authentication; monitored site utilization and latency using Vitalnet Statistical Suite to manage capacity and plan for potential growth; assign and monitor new projects to the correct resource; acting infrastructure lead to attend critical meetings with GE Infrastructure’s upper management in the planning and implementation of projects and issue resolution.
