Summary

I have an extensive background in marketing and advertising. After many years as an advertising account executive for print advertising at three newspapers and a magazine, I currently work as a freelance online marketing consultant. I am a Hubspot Certified Inbound Marketing Professional and offer services for setting up and managing inbound marketing practices with or without Hubspot sofware.  I publish two blogs, one for my marketing services and one for my online store, www.whiteoakattic.com. I am a multi-channel ecommerce merchant with eBay, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bonanza and other sites.

I have experience setting up and using the advanced functions of Hubspot web based inbound marketing software and can manually set up inbound marketing practices using social media platforms, a website, blog, and email marketing tools.  I have a deep understanding of all facets of inbound marketing including content creation using blogs, video, white papers, and other downloadable products and search engine optimization techniques. 

I have setup my own online store using the Shopify shopping cart platform and can offer this service to other businesses interested in starting an ecommerce site or adding online shopping options to existing websites. Shopify integrates with Hubspot inbound marketing software.

I would like to work directly for a company who needs a fully developed online marketing strategy either with or without an online shopping cart system.  I have the skills to create and develop content as well as familiarity with tools and services to promote the content and use it to increase search engine rankings.

I am also interested in working directly for a company in a combined role of marketing and sales.  I have strong presentation skills including the use of Powerpoint, Slideshare and some experience with webinars. I was invited to speak on a marketing panel discussion at the 2010 WordCamp Birmingham - a blogging conference. I have one engagement for Spring of 2011 (on a Saturday) to speak at a church conference on the use of social media as a marketing and outreach tool.

I am a founding member and webmaster for Women of the Powergrid, a 501c3 non-profit organization which offers numerous opportunities for professional networking.  I am the Social Media Director and webmaster for the Alabama Chapter of the National Speakers Association.

How 2 Marketing Advice

Marketing strategy and inbound marketing consulting services are offered in varying degrees.  Businesses can learn the definition of inbound marketing and receive either counseling to set up these services on their own or purchase full service inbound marketing packages with components tailored according to their needs. 

Inbound marketing involves content creation, a presence on multiple social media platforms, a website, a blog, email marketing and sometimes a shopping cart depending on the type of business.  It is the overall strategy for using all of these tools and services in a synchronized effort to generate leads and sales from the Internet.  Advanced strategy incorporates the use of landing pages, email drip campaigns, and the creation of strong "call-to-action" statements throughout a website and the end result is measurable results. 

I talk with business owners, assess their needs and make recommendations in how to proceed in using inbound marketing practices to generate more business.  I provide services based on these recommendations and the budget concerns of the client.

After buying and selling on eBay for a number of years I opened an online store.  It is mostly an extention of hobbies and personal interests and my product line was chosen for the demographic of the readers of my blog. Learning to drive traffic to my store developed my online marketing skills and has lead to a deep education in all facets of online marketing.  No services have been outsourced, the launch and creation of the blog and it's graphics were done by me with the help of templates and graphic sets that I modified to suit my needs. I use drop ship suppliers to offer merchandise and occasionally carry some second hand goods.  I am in the process of developing a few products of my own to offer at this store.

I sell books at Amazon and Barnes & Noble and have a small site on Bonanza and a few other sites.  I have primarily used the store as an education vehicle toward offering marketing and ecommerce services to others.  I have used Prostores, Shopp (a WordPress shopping cart plugin) and Shopify as shopping cart platforms and have plenty of hands-on experience with the ins and outs of operating an online store.

I can launch websites on the Hubspot CMS or using WordPress as the CMS - I am advanced in the layout and search engine optimization efforts but must outsource most graphic design.

Digital Advertising

I am a VAR with Deep Target, a Huntsville based company offering an intelligent, patented web-based marketing tool for banks and other businesses with an online customer database system.  The software allows a customized user experience for customers logged into the database.  Content can be displayed based on demographic information contained in the database.  Return on investment is measurable and well documented allowing marketing departments to fine tune their efforts for the maximum results.

Hubspot CMS (Software)

I use the Hubspot CMS on my marketing website and I offer it to my clients.  This is a powerful inbound marketing dashboard of sorts that allows implementaion, monitoring and reporting of all inbound marketing activity.  The software even has uses for tracking offline marketing efforts as part of its advanced functions.    

WordPress

I have been using WordPress for years as a marketing tool and publication platform for my blog.  I attend WordCamp events on a regular basis and was a speaker at the Birmingaham WordCamp in 2010.  I can teach people to use it, customize it and employ all of its versatility for use as a marketing tool.

Inbound Marketing

I have received certification as an inbound marketing professional with Hubspot.  Inbound marketin gis the overall strategy for using social media, websites, email marketing, SEO (search engine optimization), blogs, PPC (pay per click) advertising, landing pages, email drip campaigns and other Internet tools to generate leads and make sales from the Internet.
