Instructional System Designer


Contract position for the Defense Acquisition University on Fort Belvoir. Assists in design and development of web-based curriculum and courseware according to instructional principles, industry-accepted instructional strategies, client objectives, and program objectives. Familiar with 508 compliance and SCORM conformance courseware.

  • Assist the LMS Program Manager in the day-to-day operations of the DAU Virtual Campus (Atlas Learning Management System (LMS) and Blackboard Academic System); over 1 million total users and 300 SCORM courses
  • Interact daily with help desk to resolve Tier II issues and coordinate improvements; 6,000 to 10,000 tickets each month
  • Manage the SumTotal Learning Content Management System (LCMS); provide support to over 150 users and maintain over 200 Distance Learning and Continuous Learning courses
  • Provide Blackboard admin support to faculty and students; researches, analyzes, and resolves Blackboard course and content collection issues
  • Review web-based course design documents, storyboards, prototypes, student/instructor guides, and assessments to assure adherence to design standards; assists in total life cycle development and workflow management of courseware
  • Key player in conducting student pilots for new courses; troubleshoots technical issues, interacts with students, writes reports/documents lessons learned & briefs management
  • Assists the Project Manager in the distribution of tasks to the team by analyzing individual workloads and deadlines; distributes assignments based on employee skills and availability

Instructed pre-college SAT and ACT courses to high school students. Created a fun learning environment and developed a good rapport with students to help them achieve goals and recruit their friends for the program. Instructed up to 20 students for each 12-session course.

Teacher of the Year for 2007 (#1 of 80) and 2007 Teacher Elite Award recipient for achieving and maintaining an overall excellent rating in Kaplan’s Benchmark Survey

  • Liaison between Kaplan and the customer; problem-solve a variety of issues such as classroom scheduling conflicts and online course accessibility
  • Operated and managed the web based training (WBT) courseware to monitor and assist students with their self-paced course assignments

Information Manager / Administrative Assistant

Active Duty service encompassed several positions to include human resource, training, and hand-selection to the 355th Logistics Group lead administrative manager in charge of over 50 personnel.

Managed the Logistics Training Flight administration office, the largest training office in the Air Combat Command responsible for the training of over 3,000 personnel - both classroom and online

  • Ensured 100% Air Force compliance of 13 personnel programs to include leave accounting, military performance reports, special action programs, and unfavorable information files
  • Developed online curriculum and tested courseware at component and comprehensive levels
  • Conducted various training needs assessment for continues process improvement through gap analysis, observations, interviews, surveys, and focus groups; developed customized training plans to fulfill training needs; 50% increase in productivity within two months
  • Developed Air Force human resource continuity; streamlined processes and delivered monthly proficiency and on-the-job training to 18 personnel
  • Designed Microsoft Access databases to track correspondence; databases were benchmarked throughout the Air Force; raised squadron on-time correspondence rate from 60% to 100%
  • Responsible for organizational management and manpower for over 550 personnel; managed personnel actions for transfers, retirements, promotions, separations, and deployments
