About Nicole Stevenson Abingdon

Nicole Stevenson holds a BA in English and history from the University of Maryland, which she attended at its College Park campus, about an hour from her Abingdon home. Before graduating in May 2015, she secured membership in the Sigma Tau Delta (English) and Phi Alpha Theta (History) honor societies. She was also nominated to Phi Beta Kappa. Over her time at the university, Nicole Stevenson worked as a secretary in the Linguistic Department.

Ms. Stevenson’s academic endeavors culminated in a thesis titled “The Other Gissing GIrl: Exploring Monica Madden as the New Woman in George Gissing’s ‘The Odd Women.” The thesis, which received an award from the English Department, required roughly two years of research to complete.

In her private life, Nicole Stevenson nurtures a continuing interest in the law by reading rulings handed down by the United States Supreme Court. In college, she spent time in the university’s Student Legal Aid Office as an intern. While working there, she studied Maryland’s landlord-tenant legislation.
