A 4th year accounting student at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, I have had the opportunity to participate in many activities. An avid Toastmaster, Writer, Payroll Specialist, and Community Volunteer, I am searching for new avenues of growth that challenge my skills.

A member of numerous professional associations and experienced in the nonprofit sector as a volunteer and at the governance level as a member of several nonprofit boards. Long-term goals include pursuing the CPA designation, an MBA education, and continued volunteering in the community. Open to opportunities in finding new efficiency or assisting in organizational revitalization.

Issues Editor - The NAIT Nugget

NAIT Students' Association (NAITSA)

Serve on the editorial staff of the NAIT Nugget, NAIT's campus newspaper. Assisting in the weekly production cycle of the paper by pitching ideas for informative articles that are relevant to NAIT students, recruiting interested students as contributing writers, and editing submitted articles. The NAIT Nugget's Issues section deals primarily with informative topics, such as student politics, institutional changes, business events, and off-campus news that affect students.

Served as the NAIT Nugget's representative at the Canadian University Press Nash '77 conference in Ottawa, ON.

Supplemental Learning Leader - ACCT1115/ACCT1117

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology

Serve as a Supplemental Learning Leader for first year accounting courses at NAIT. Supporting two sections of ACCT1115 - Introductory Accounting I in the Fall 2014 Term, and three sections of ACCT1117 - Introductory Accounting II in the Winter 2015 Term.

Attend classes to follow course progression and assist students in class, in addition to facilitating extra sessions where students can study and apply course material to exercises.

Assigned to Mod Yard 2 as timekeeper. Input employee payroll data for up to 140 night shift employees into OTES (Offline Time Entry System) and upload weekly to Oracle. (May - June, 2014)

Reassigned to the billing team as accounts receivable support. Ensured long-term data integrity by uploading digital invoice copies to the server and entering invoice data into job-specific invoice registers. Utilized reports pulled from Oracle and the client's systems to match payments with invoices and individual line items. Worked closely with other members of the billing team to decrease processing time and reduce workload. (June - August, 2014)

Temporary Administrator contracted to KBR Canada Ltd. by Roevin Technical People.

Initially assigned to the billing team for major Shell project. Created log spreadsheets and summaries for invoices being prepared for billing. Worked in a fast-paced small team environment to accurately complete billing process. Efficiently and accurately handled large volumes of data and filing to prepare for audit. Continued to provide billing support through the end of August while performing timekeeping duties. (June - August, 2013)

Reassigned to timekeeping duties, assisted in entering weekly payroll data into Oracle for over 700 hourly employees. Transitioned into the payroll team to provide support processing employee ROE's. (July - August, 2013)

Effectively demonstrated the ability to adjust to new roles and tasks as needed. Worked under direct, remote, and no supervision efficiently while displaying initiative and forward thinking. Continued to provide support and complete tasks for other projects in addition to primary duties.

Worked in a small team environment and effectively utilized Microsoft Navision and Excel to complete tasks. Main duties were the preparation and entering of semi-monthly payroll for ~200 hourly employees in 9 branches. Additional duties included the entering and maintenance of new employee files and the filing of all payroll information. Also answered information requests and provided assistance to other departments as necessary. Enthusiastically worked to improve workflow and offer front-line solutions to payroll processes.
