  • Datacomp “Beyond the Everyday” - New Zealand, 2014
    • This weekend event was designed to challenge people (developers, testers, business analysts) to build a product that move every-day items to a whole new level.

Each team was given Arduino, an open-source, programmable microcontroller and software development environment which is designed to be a rapid prototyping platform.

The product my team came up with was a Home Management system. We built a small house out of cardboard used the Arduino board to control the house’s components.

This includes controlling the curtains, turning on the lights, TV, radio and fan. It also has various sensors such as light, temperature and air.

  • DevCamp - New Zealand 2014
    • This is an annual event held by Datacom where a group of about 80 developers in Datacom get together and share their enthusiasm and experience for a weekend.

The weekend followed the Unconference format (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconference) which essentially means that the schedule and the subjects discussed are in the hands of the attendees.

The primary outcome was better networking, greater enthusiasm and a great deal of shared knowledge and experience.

  • Microsoft TechEd New Zealand 2012
    • This is an annual Microsoft conference for developers and IT professionals, which is New Zealand’s largest IT Conference.
