  • Wrote the entire US-69 environmental assessment for 20 mile road realignment area on a hard deadline without any data provided by the client.
  • Created GIS database for 40 square mile study area utilizing data from other unrelated projects.
  • Took initiative, purchased several how-to manuals, and taught myself every unfamiliar type of environmental analysis. This included floodplain impacts, water quality, archaeology, vegetation and wildlife, wetlands, construction impacts / mitigative measures, and permits.
  • Supervisor very impressed that project was completed on time and within budget.
  • Took initiative and quickly taught myself MicroStation to assist engineers on other projects.

  • Conducted site, architectural, and/or landscape plan review for 13 communities. Included review of +170 project sites in a variety of zoning districts, from .1 to +300 acres in urban and rural settings.
  • Utilized a variety of facilitation skills working with developer and public sector staff through all phases of the development process.
  • Demonstrated competency juggling 13 different sets of municipal codes, comprehensive plans, and guidelines, preparing review memos according to each client's plan interpretation.
  • Created and maintained database to track status of all plan reviews. Results decreased time for communities to process development applications.
  • Exceeded job responsibilities leading book discussion on public speaking skills. Management was very impressed with initiative and introduced a bi-monthly staff lunch for rehearsing mock presentations. Professional Development Officer: Kansas Chapter

  • May 2010-January 2011
  • First PDO in several states to lead an in-depth AICP workshop at the state conference. Relied on 2,000 pages of my own study material to lead discussion on law, ethics, and 16 other subject areas. Created mock exam with handpicked questions that was included with a CD of study material. Utilized marketing skills promoting workshop in nearby states. Twenty planners from four states attended workshop, five times larger than any previous AICP workshop in several states.
  • Prepared all paperwork registering Certification Maintenance (CM) credits for all 28 sessions of Fall Conference, including a mobile workshop and two walking tours.
  • Provided informal AICP ethics advice requested by planners on two separate occasions as established by the Code of Ethics.
  • Served as ex-officio Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) advisor to the graduate planning programs at Kansas State University and the University of Kansas.
