Research Student

The research group is divided into four distinctive but inter-connected topics: (1) chemoselective functionalization of bionanoparticles (BNPs); (2) self-assembly of BNPs towards materials development; (3) cell-recognition study with BNP-assemblies; and (4) fluorogenic reaction for protein imaging and recognition. All these researches point to one direction: to build three-dimensional programmable scaffolds that mimic the native extracellular matrices and can be used to probe the cellular activities.

  • Carolina Homelessness Outreach: Founder and President [1/17 - 5/18]
    •   Carolina Homelessness Outreach is a group of motivated and caring students who want to make a positive differences in the lives of homeless individuals, to grow through education and understanding, to develop positive relationships with various community outreach programs and to increase awareness of homelessness and help to foster a positive community attitude. We want to bring together students of USC who have a common interest in serving the Richland county homeless
  • Organic Chemistry Office Assistant [1/16 - 5/16]
  • St. Lawrence Place - Family Homeless Shelter: Mentor / Tutor / Family Literacy Night Organizer [1/17 - 5/18]
    • I tutored and mentored children at this shelter once per week. My organization, Carolina Homelessness Outreach, organized and facilitated the Family Literacy Night for St. Lawrence Place. I organized a talk to encourage the parents to engage in activities that have been shown to increase literacy for their children. Additionally, I organized different literacy games and activities for the various age groups of children. I organized this once per month.
  • Transitions Homeless Shelter: Meal Server and Event Organizer [1/17 - 5/18]
    • I served breakfast three to four times per week at Transitions Homeless Shelter. Additionally, I lead three Block Parties which integrated USC students with the residents of Transitions.
  • SBP: Volunteer [8/17 - 5/18]
    • I volunteered and provided volunteers to reconstruct homes which had been destroyed by the 2018 flood in the Columbia area. 
  • Volunteer at Palmetto Health Children's Hospital

    • I helped clean up and repair an Elementary School destroyed by the 2016 flood.
