About Nichole Devolites

Nichole is a marketer, a strategist, an innovator, a company owner, a writer and a philanthropist. Her career has been on the fast-track to success, since 1999, when she began to quickly develop strong marketing and social media skills, leading up to the launch of her own marketing strategy company, Conversa Group, in 2009.   Nichole came from the technology world, spending six years of her career working with Microsoft (in addition to a start-up company and Booz Allen Hamilton), gaining invaluable knowledge of its technologies and solutions, its partners and it's culture.  She discovered along the way that most companies — large or small — had unique marketing needs that required tailored approaches to their business, not a cookie cutter methodology.  It was within this that Conversa started to become a reality.   Prior to Conversa Group, Nichole briefly switched industries to that of luxury retail, more specifically, Tysons Galleria.  It is there that she implemented highly successful social media and events strategies, leading to increased awareness in the media, as well as the community. Some of Nichole’s more notable accomplishments include:
  • Executing a three-day, in-mall, celebrity-studded event for 1500+ customers, for Tysons Galleria
  • Launching first-to-market and/or notable luxury brands, both retail and restaurant, for Tysons Galleria
  • Championing the Partner Marketing Program, for Microsoft Federal, where none previously existed, to driving to $20M in net-new, partner-influenced revenue.
  • Increasing a small boutique marketing firm’s revenue by $1 million, through Microsoft Worldwide Public Sector Group projects.
  • Developing successful marketing and sales strategies for a UCSB scientist whose patented LED invention has gained international recognition.
  • Orchestrating teams of up to 11 employees and contractors for the successful completion of Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 consumer messaging.
  • Managing logistics for an eight-city e-commerce road show with over 40,000 people in attendance.
  • Leading the effort to revitalize an established small company’s image in order to gain public interest in their offerings.
In addition to the aforementioned successes, Nichole also serves as LUCRAS' Chief Marketing Officer, the Director of Social Media for Ladies DC – a non-profit women's organization; Style Council Member for Saks Fifth Avenue, Luke's Wings Executive Host Committee Member, Freelance Writer for Washington Life and Owner of the Lifestyle Blog: Social Lady DC.

Skills

Skills

Marketing Department Assessment and Optimization

Part of having a robust and successful marketing plan is having a well-optimized team to go with it.  I also specialize in being able to assess your current marketing department or plan, in order to provide efficiencies and fill gaps where necessary.  In a time where budgets are tight, marketing should never be completely cut but there are ways to do more with less!

Strategic Marketing Planning/Roadmapping

I provide my clients with a clear pathway to the future with a robust strategic marketing and communication plan. These plans can be developed on a 3-month, 6-month and 12-month cycle.  Built in are the tools to not just execute the plan but how to manage the plan and track the outcomes as well.

Marketing Campaigns

Have built many multi-tiered campaigns, in order to promote companies, solutions, products and ideas.  These have spanned across many industries, targeting B2B, B2G and B2C customers and partners.

Event Producer

Have produced many different types of events, including small lunch and learns, 350+ person networking events, a 3-day 1500+ attendee retail event and multi-city roadshows.

Technical Writer

Have produced both data dictionaries and online technical user guides.

Social Media

I pioneered my use of social media in the corporate world by developing and implementing social media communication strategies for Microsoft Federal, including the use of Facebook, LinkedIn, GovLoop, Twitter, blogtalkradio.com and a blog through MSDN.  This strategy was used both as a general forum for customers, partners and Microsoft teams to communicate, but also used to launch new marketing campaigns.   This was also used at Tysons Galleria where I wrote a 20-page position paper on the effectiveness of social media in the retail industry.  I actively maintained the Facebook, Twitter and blog pages each day, gaining a 1,550% fan base on each site.   Today, I have advised my clients on the effectiveness of social media, including putting together the right strategy to help them use these tools effectively for their business.

Writer/Editor for Marketing Collateral

Have developed many types of marketing collateral for mainly technology companies, focusing on Public Sector and B2B customers. This includes web copy, brochures, datasheets, case studies, PowerPoint presentations, email blasts, invites, etc.      In addition, I have also produced copy for small business, retail, entertainment and non-profit companies, as well as Microsoft partners, looking to have a tailored pitch when meeting with Microsoft employees on their business.
