Summary

I am a 22-year-old senior at Chico State majoring in journalism with an option in public relations and a minor in Spanish. I grew up in sunny Southern California and can't wait to see where life takes me once I graduate in December 2011.

Over the past year, I have been worked for RMD Group, an event marketing company that promotes corporate brands such as Ford, K-Swiss, and Page One. This has resulted in strong client relationships and an expanded Northern California team. I also worked as the public relations and marketing intern at Restored Clothing Company, creating strategies to increase awareness among the local community. In this position, I have created a strong online presence in social networking as well as a weekly street team newsletter to improve communication between the company and its supporters.

Working as an Account Executive for Tehama Group Communications, an on-campus student-run public relations agency for Chico State, has allowed me to discover my passion for working with the media and event planning. Working with a variety of clients such as Caminar, a non profit organization, COMM, the College of Communications' newsletter, and Frugal House, a fundraiser for the North State symphony, has allowed me the chance to improve my writing, work in a leadership role, and organize media coverage. I love the high-speed environment of public relations and working out of the office on the go.

These opportunities have allowed me to experience both agency and in-house settings and the ability to work in diverse environments. In collaborating my efforts, I feel that I could increase the productivity and efficiency for an entertainment agency or in-house fashion house in the San Francisco, Los Angeles or San Diego area.

I have also been a member of the International Assocaition of Business Communicators since 2008 and I am actively involved in my sorority, Alpha Phi. I also enjoy running, reading, spending time with my puppy Rico and being involved in leadership and volunteer initiatives. I look forward to graduating and seeing what I can offer the business world.

I recently began working as the public relations and marketing intern at Restored Clothing Company, creating strategies to increase awareness among the local community. In this position, I have created a strong online presence in social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter as well as a weekly street team newsletter to improve communication between the company and its supporters. Jan 2011 - Present

Senior Account Executive

Tehama Group Communications

Tehama Group Communications is a student-run public relations agency that works with paying clients in order to serve their personalized communication needs. Working on a deadline, I have worked with clients on building content for campus newsletters such as Building Bridges and COMM. Caminar, a local non profit that helps enhance the lives of those with disabilities in the community, called for a social media plan and implementation guide for both a new and innovative fundraising event and for gaining awareness about Caminar's services and Sensible Cyclery, a project created to provide jobs for Caminar's consumers and to refurbish old bikes and sell them back to the community at reduced prices. This semester, I am leading the Department of Journalism and Public Relations account where I am working with writers, photographers, designers, and editors in rebranding the department, creating content and building a new site for the department's newsletter, Journalism Times, and organizing the Hall of Fame event. This has given me experience in thinking outside the box and creating interesting and modern ads for the department, organizing content for a website and planning an event start to finish including working with an event coordinator, budgeting and creating a checklist for volunteers. I am extremely dedicated to the agency and look forward to working in a similar environment in the future.

2008 - 2009

Program Member/Volunteer

C.A.V.E

During my time at C.A.V.E, I worked as a teacher's assistant, preparing lesson plan and materials for daily activities, and as a mentor to bilingual children. I worked closely with the Durham School District in bridging the language barrier between these individuals, teachers, and other classmates.

2007 - 2009

Interpersonal communication and event marketing skills

In high school, I was the co-chair of a Fashion Merchandising ROP program that put on a charity fashion show. This allowed me to begin to explore different strategies for marketing and publicity. Through raising funds for my sorority's philanthropy, cardiac care, I have reached out to community members and businesses and helped put on events such as our annual Red Dress Ball in Sacramento. I enjoy working personally with clients to communicate needs and wants in order to make sure that my company is best serving them.
