The project was made difficult by the fact that 20 of these sites were existing sites with insufficient floor space to allow for parallel build. Four civil contractors were commissioned for the new sites with one contractor serving as a backup. We had six BTS installation teams. Two managers reported directly to me for the access and core networks respectively. I also had three team leaders for the Access network: Civil works, MW and BTS installation. I set up daily review meetings with key project stakeholders to coordinate the rollout process and ensure that

Project Implementation Manager/head

Intercellular Nigeria Plc. National Television Authority, Jos, Nigeria
Project Implementation Manager/Head(O&M), Kano CDMA Network. Team member implementation of CDMA wireless telecommunication networks in Kano, Nigeria. Supervised work teams involved in RF planning, site acquisition, and installation. The network used Motorola EMX5000 switch, Motorola CBSC and 5 Motorola BTS. Microwave links were used for the BTS links while an STM-1 optic fiber link provided interconnectivity to NITEL, MTN and Econet. Hardest part of this project was the interconnectivity with the other PTOs and NITEL as well as Intercellular's other offices. Coordinated project rollout activities and interfaced with the main vendor Motorola as well as subcontractors for power supply and cooling systems. Supervised ATPs and quality assured all technical aspects of the project. After network launch, I served as head of operations and maintenance department. In this role, I supervised maintenance staff and assigned roles, workloads and schedules. I also developed, interpreted and implemented company policies and procedures for the O&M department. I evaluated staff and ensured that staff are trained in complex maintenance activities and are following standard operatingprocedures. Established and monitored schedules for maintaining the performance of all systems; including environmental systems, network and telecommunications systems, and power generation equipment. Also monitored network and system performance; performed physical planning and generated usage statistics. I maintained equipment inventory and prepared analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities. I also ensured that routine maintenance procedures were strictly adhered to. To ease generation of reports and operational logs, I introduced electronic logs which were used not only by the O&M department, but deployed across all departments. This provided filtering of issues from customer care and speeded up problem resolution. Also assisted in the periodic evaluations of subordinates and recommended as well as implemented disciplinary measures as required. Acted as single point of contact for all network related questions and provided information related to projects including resolving problems, handling complaints and providing technical expertise. Interacted professionally with the vendors, contractors and regulatory institutions and maintained effective working relationships with the management team to effectively meet departmental objectives. I performed a variety of field maintenance tasks, including interconnection with PTOs, resolving transmissions problems
