Summary

I am a senior at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla.

I began my first semester at OSU in August 2008 when I decided to pursue a bachelor of arts degree in Public Relations.  I chose public relations because of my natural ability to communicate.  My experience shows that I am a dedicated leader with a passion for people and success.  My experience has also taught me that public relations is more than communication and involves many other skills including marketing, writing, and understanding the target audience, just to name a few.

Currently, I am working as a server and special events host at Stillwater Country Club.  This job has allowed me to sharpen my communication skills while learning to interact with many different kinds of people.  In September 2010,  I was hired by Axis of Awesome as a brand agent at Cowboy Book. This job allowed me to use my PR knowledge in a business setting.  I was in charge of all social media for the store and did all the PR on campus.  Prior to that, I spent three summers working at a restaurant in my hometown called The Italian Fisherman. Here, I was a server and expeditor.  Both positions improved my work ethic and leadership skills.

Oklahoma native, I have lived in four states.  When I was five, my family moved to F.L. and when I was twelve, my Dad's job transferred us to N.Y.  My parents now reside in Texas.  I spent this past summer studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain where I took classes at The University of Barcelona and improved my spanish speaking skills.  My history in moving has taught me adaptability and the importance of building relationships.

On May 5th, I will a graduate of Oklahoma State University and I am seeking employment in sales, event planning, public relations, and marketing.

Server & Expeditor

The Italian Fisherman
  • Worked as a server to make sure customers have the greatest experience possible.
  • Greet the table, take orders, deliver food, and engage in conversation with the guests.  Always upsell, and invite customers back.  If customer is unsatisfied, fix the problem because the customer is always right.
  • Worked as an expeditor in the kitchen.
  • Was the main line of communication between the front of the house (service staff) and the back of the house (kitchen line).
  • Made sure everything was cooked properly and all meals were sent out correctly.  If servers had questions about dinners, they were instructed to ask me and I communicated with the cooks.
  • This job is extremely important during all shifts but especially, extremely busy ones.  The expeditor must be organized, a great communicator, and a strong leader.
