Career Counselor

State of Wisconsin - Department of Workforce Development

Provide individual assessments and career counseling to individuals in a multi-county region of the State of Wisconsin centered in the La Crosse region.  Develop, implement, and facilitate workshops designed to remove barriers that inhibit job seekers from successfully finding appropriate employment.  Collaborate with Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors in providing career assessment and exploration for mutual clients.  Manage, set up, and proctor exams offered through the State for individuals seeking to recieve the National Career Readiness Certificate.

Career Service Counseling Intern/Volunteer

University of Wisconsin - Career Services

Provided individual counseling with students regarding their preparation and exploration for future employment.  Co-instructed two career development classes for undergraduate students.  Participated and assisted instructor for two six week classes which developed personal leadership skills. 

Committee chair for the Spring 2009 Diversity & Leadership Conference responsible for identifying and securing extended service sessions within the community and topic sessions for student participation in the areas of leadership, diversity, and multiculturalism.  Tutored culturally diverse individuals who were differently abled.

Represented and assisted over 1,600 abused, neglected, runaway, and delinquent children from culturally diverse backgrounds in legal proceedings, primarily in Milwaukee County.  Appointed to represent over 200 parents from culturally diverse backgrounds regarding their positions in child protection cases.  Cultivated and developed widespread partnerships with individuals involved in the successful completion of case plans for youth clients including: judges, district attorneys, probation officers, social workers, school staff, treatment facility staff, doctors, psychologist, foster parents, relative caregivers, parents, shelter staff, and various other service providers.
