Rewarding and exciting decades of professional work have led me to specialise in the dynamic roles of media reporting, development communication, public relations and multimedia journalism.

The breadth of my experiences are stretched across deploying communication strategies, creative writing for print media, developing scripts for electronic media, managing extensive media campaigns and producing multimedia content. My academic background in journalism and mass communication, backed by my professional experience of working for private, public and development sector companies over the years have given me insights and perspectives which can be harnessed by growing and dynamic organisations to their competitive advantage.

Station Director (Pakhtunkhwa Radio FM 92.2 Peshawar)

Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Undertook the personnel management, content production, financial planning and business continuity of Pakhtunkhwa Radio, a subsidiary of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Achievement: Initiated a total overhaul of the radio station through rebranding as a trendsetting public sector entity, bringing in young talent to improve content quality and carrying out measures for its commercial sustainability.

Communication Specialist (Post-Crisis Needs Assessment)

PCNA Implementation Support Unit, FATA Secretariat, Government of Pakistan

Led on the implementation of the Post-Crisis Needs Assessment (PCNA) strategic communication objectives by working collaboratively with other sector specialists to implement the citizen outreach and public awareness objectives of the FATA Secretariat policies and projects.

Achievement: Designed and launched the first-ever peace building for sustainable development communication strategy within the context of FATA. The strategy focuses on community participation and social accountability as key drivers of sustainable development.

Assistant Director (Electronic Media Section)

Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Carried out the administrative management and content production related aspects of the electronic media section within the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Achievement: Worked closely with the Secretary Information and key officials of other government line departments on the concept and design (PC-1) for the establishment of the first ever provincial government owned television channel. Produced and aired video documentaries on a range of topics and events which were developed using in-house facilities and resources.

Capacity Building Program for Federally Administered Tribal Areas, U.S. Agency for International Development

Assisted the Director General Media and led the publicity section, across a range of core functions from team management to strategic communication, for the successful operations of the FATA Media Cell.

Achievement: Built a team of young and dynamic media professionals who were assigned with the challenge of establishing and operationalising the FATA Secretariat media wing from the scratch.

Communication Manager (Outreach Unit)

The Center of Excellence for Rural Development, CERD Peshawar

Worked with social mobilisers, field researchers. humanitarian officers, project beneficiaries and local journalists to develop communication and media products on promoting the initiatives and projects of CERD.

Achievement: Established and managed the outreach unit of CERD which significantly contributed towards improving the visibility of the organisation as well as highlighting  contributions of the donor agencies.

Planned and executed the content development, production management and broadcast airing of all forms of audiovisual media products for the publicity and outreach of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Achievement: Held the position for 9 years in modernising the audiovisual engagement of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by introducing novel practices in staffing, production and content related aspects. Gave the first ever advertisement policy for the provincial government.

Deputed to manage the public relations and media outreach on behalf of the ANF headquarters through coordinating press briefings, undertaking media activities, producing public relations content and advising the management on media affairs.

Achievement: Introduced public relations and media management as key functions within the organisation's strategic orientation through media engagement, newsletter launch and communication action plan.

Steered the public relations operations of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations by assigning duties, managing events, following up with media, monitoring coverage and supervising public relations team.

Achievement: Worked successfully with several provincial government ministers in communicating their plans, policies and priorities to the citizens and stakeholders. Also advised them on how to work with the media for promoting their achievements and initiatives.

Reported on events and developments on a range of social and economic issues covering the entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (then NWFP) province. Drafted, edited and published news stories on the basis of stats and facts collected from field surveys, press conferences, site visits and personal interviews.

Achievement: Covered incidents of national significance as the lead reporter with topics ranging from security challenges and political affairs to social issues and economic policies.
