As an experienced communications executive and organizational leader, I have a distinguished background spearheading innovative journalism that builds audience and revenues, as well as business experience in marketing, sales, industry technology, product development and executive-level communications. As a senior editorial executive, I have represented companies at industry conventions and public events, communicated significant product or service developments to customers and participated in employee contract negotiations.

My management portfolio includes overseeing journalism that has generated new revenues, fostered community engagement and resulted in federal and state legislation, congressional hearings and regulatory reviews based on investigative and enterprise reporting conducted in some of the nation's most competitive media markets, including Long Island’s Newsday, as well as San Francisco, Washington, DC, Denver and Indianapolis. 

I have worked on successful marketing & sales campaigns, as well as customer outreach and informational materials for regional digital and print organizations, as well The Associated Press,  the world's largest news organization.

In recent years I've worked with customers to deploy Associated Press Digital News Experience content - ready-to-publish Web packages that provide complementary coverage and drive significant revenue to member sites - with customers experiencing some of the highest revenue gains in the country following implementation.

While with AP, I was part of a small national leadership team developing partnerships  with nonprofit watchdog news organizations to distribute their content via AP delivery platforms.

Overseeing digital strategy, product development and content, multimedia, photography and video, computer-assisted reporting and data visualization efforts, as well as investigative reporting. With management responsibilities that bridged print and digital operations, I  accelerated transition to digital-oriented publication,  expanded digital operations, created new positions and hired more web-savvy staff and managers, encouraged innovation and experimentation with new approaches to content delivery. Under my supervision, The Post-Gazette was recognized by Editor & Publisher magazine  as one of the "newspapers that do it right."

Senior manager assisting in daily oversight of one of AP’s highest-profile domestic operations. Responsibilities included management of editorial, business development, communications and marketing AP services to member news organizations and commercial clients throughout California, Nevada and Hawaii. Routinely conducted analysis of member product usage and competitive marketplace. Developed and maintained editorial and business relationships with print, broadcast and commercial customers. Coordinated national efforts on transitioning members to web-based AP content delivery. Conducted member product training efforts around the country, as well as computer-assisted reporting training. The Associated Press is the world's largest news organization.

Assistant Managing Editor/Sunday

The Denver Post

Overseeing nation’s seventh-largest Sunday newspaper. Supervised and coordinated news content and visual presentation for Page 1 and section fronts for the weekend newspapers, as well as overall content quality for the 750,000-circulation Sunday paper. Also supervised National and Foreign reporting desks at The Post, as well as the Washington bureau and investigative projects. Investigations resulted in congressional hearings and federal and state legislation.

Enterprise Editor


Supervising short- and long-term investigative projects, overseeing numerous series dealing with issues such as immigrant workplace deaths, medical misconduct, inequities in New York area property tax systems and a computer-assisted analysis of aviation delays at the nation’s busiest airports. These projects received numerous awards and journalistic accolades, including a citation in Columbia Journalism Review for “Death on the Job: Immigrants at Risk,” an investigative series exploring foreign-born workplace deaths.

The Indianapolis Star

Supervising the investigative reporting and special projects team. Managed and edited award-winning investigative series, including projects on inadequate nursing home care, the city’s failing public school system, widespread molestation of children by Catholic priests and campaign finance issues. The Star’s two-year investigative effort concerning the influence of special interests within the Indiana legislature, “Statehouse Sellout,” received numerous awards and national recognition, including feature articles in Columbia Journalism Review and American Journalism Review magazines and a book by the Center for Public Integrity.
