A banker with extensive experience in real estate lending and finance, Neil Kornswiet is President of the Mortgage Division of Pacific Mercantile Bank, located in Costa Mesa, California. He is also a member of the Board of Directors and a member of the Office of the President. Neil Kornswiet is one of four executives responsible for the daily operations of the Bank, and he is directly responsible for operations of the Mortgage Division. He undertook responsibility for the division at a time when it was losing money and transformed it into the bank's most profitable division.A graduate of the Ohio State University, Neil Kornswiet holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He also majored in Accounting during his undergraduate studies and garnered numerous academic awards and accolades, graduating summa cum laude. He moved on to Georgetown University Law Center, from which he graduated cum laude with his JD. Mr. Kornswiet's first positions after school were into the field of law. He joined the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore and served as an associate for the New York firm where he focused primarily on corporate law and corporate finance. He then became a Partner as well as member of the management committee for the Los Angeles firm of McKenna, Conner & Cuneo. His work with the firm involved representing banks and other financial institutions in corporate and regulatory matters.After several years of practicing law, Neil Kornswiet moved into the world of finance. He joined the mortgage lending firm Quality Mortgage as President and CEO. He ran the company, overseeing daily operations, until its profitable sale to the firm Amresco. Subsequently, he formed One Stop Mortgage, which he successfully ran until selling the firm to Aames Financial Corporation. Mr. Kornswiet then served as President and Vice Chairman of Aames until leaving to form another firm, one that originated and serviced over $5 billion of mortgage loans annually. Prior to joining Pacific Mercantile Bank, Neil Kornswiet served as a Managing Director of UBS Investment Bank. He put his extensive financial skill set to use in originating and servicing loans across the United States.
