Rieter Nittoku (Guangzhou) is a joint venture company, 51% Rieter, 44% Nittoku, 5% CSR. Rieter is a Swiss company with sales of over three billion euros. Nittoku is a small japanese company employing 574 people with a turnover of three hundred and seventy four million USD. Responsible for leading a cross cultural team with 3 executive officers (2 Japanese, 1 Chinese) and 9 managers (Chinese) and 360 direct workers with sales & P&L responsibility. The local factory has a turnover of RMB184,000,000 and EBIT of 25.5%.

Chief Executive Officer (Director) Reporting T0 the CEO Asia Pacific

· In one year improved the EBIT from 18% to 25.5% through improvements in efficiency & purchasing and headcount reduction (15%);

· Developed the company culture, teamwork and communication through the formation of the Leadership Team and the Executive Management Team;

· Completed the feasibility study and recommendation for a new site in Wuhan;

· Reduced finished goods inventory from 7 days to 3 days;

· Implemented Kaizen projects to reduce direct costs by RMB7,000,000 in one year;


Plant Manager


AGFA is a European company with sales of over four billion euros. Responsible for leading 8 managers and 184 direct workers with P&L responsibility. The Wuxi factory has a turnover of 30 mio Euros

Plant Manager (Director) Reporting to the VP Operations Worldwide

·Led the company through the separation of the business into 3 separate business units;

·Developed a plan to further increase output of the factory by 100% in 2 years starting January 2007;

·Turned the business around from a loss of >Euro 3 mio in 2005 to a profit of Euro 5 mio in 2006;

· Increased the output of the factory by 46% in 1 year with no additional headcount;

·Restructured the management team to meet the needs going forward;


Manufacturing Director

Ningbo Baowang

Ningbo Baowang is a Chinese subsidiary of Spectrum Brands a Fortune 500 company with sales of over three billion USD. Responsible for leading seven managers and 1,400 direct worker, with P&L responsibility.

Manufacturing Director Reporting To the General Manager

· Completely reorganized factory layout resulting in improved production flow;

·Developed a project to implement five new production lines, the first line was delivered on time and within budget, the other four remained on schedule and according to budget;

·Led the team through the change in culture from the JV integration of Ningbo Baowang into Spectrum Brands;

·Built new buildings and refurbished existing buildings in preparation for new production lines;

·Identified and trained successor.

(This was a one year fixed term assignment and upon successful completion of the above objectives the portfolio was handed over to my successor).


Plant Manager & Director of The Managing Board


H&T is a US$250 Million battery component manufacturer.Responsible for leading seven managers, six supervisors, and 120 direct workers, with P&L and sales responsibility.

Plant Manager (Director) Reporting To Managing Director Asia Pacific

·Turned the business around from a loss of more than USD2 Million to a profit of USD1.8 Million in five years.This was based on a growth in sales from less than USD6 Million to more than USD14 Million;

·Developed and implemented KPI’s, reported on a monthly basis, resulting in increased efficiencies of more than 20% and reduced scrap from more than 2.5% to less than 0.20%;

·Provided leadership in launching three new processes and ten new production lines on time and according to budgeted scrap and efficiency targets;

·Reduced finished goods inventory from two months to three days by implementing JIT, saving the company more than US$2.5Million of working capital.;

·Responsible for 100% on-time deliveries for five years without rejections;

·Implemented and trained 5S, six sigma, and lean manufacturing.

·Identified and trained successor.


Senior Production Manager

Duracell China is a JV with a China Partner, the parent company Gillette is a subsidiary of Proctor & Gamble, a Fortune 500 company employing over 138,000 people worldwide.Responsible for six supervisors and 150 direct workers.

· Built factory & started up operations from a green field site in 18 months;

·Developed efficiencies, output & scrap to exceed Duracell’s international targets;

·Implemented and trained 5s, six sigma, and lean manufacturing;

·Responsible for the start-up and management of the life test, chemical laboratory, receiving inspection, quality engineering, process engineering, and ISO departments;

·Instrumental in the development of operating procedures, process and purchase specifications, quality plans, and other ISO documentation.Also responsible for the implementation of a fully automated measurement and data collection system;

·Led the team in achieving ISO9001 certification;

·Coordinated the qualification of all equipment, resulting in full-scale production.


Project and Product Manager Reporting to the General Manager

Responsible for training and managing nine Chinese personal in preparation for their roles in China;

Responsible for all materials and components required for a prototype battery design. 

Senior Process Engineer Reporting to the Processes Manager

Responsible for technical & engineering support for the European Components Division is the UK and the battery manufacturing plant in Belgium. Additionally responsible for new product development.
