Marketing Assistant - Experiential Marketing & Sponsorships   

Discovery South Africa

Currently I am a Marketing Assistant in the Sponsorships team and my responsibilities include:

1. Discovery Ambassador & World Champion Chad le Clos 

  • Create and manage social media content plan aligned with overall strategy and World Champion competition results 
  • Manage and organize photo-shoot to be used in general collateral and marketing activities 
  • Plan, project manage and execute marketing sporting events leveraging off  rights allocation of Discovery ambassador 
  • Find opportunities to best leverage off Discovery ambassador throughout brand teams in Marketing 

2. Discovery Triathlon World Cup

  • Management of all creative collateral, which involved briefing the design agency and critiquing work to make sure that the event look and feel aligned with 2017 concept  
  • Manage relationships both internally and externally, ensuring momentum when tasks or objectives need to be achieved whilst making sure sponsorship relationships are open and collaborative
  • Proposing and implementing various ways to capture niche Triathlon market 
  • Complete project manage the enter Triathlon event from a head sponsor role and leverage off rights allocation 
  • Plan and execute marketing and PR strategy and ensure there is alignment with overall brand objectives 
  • Create social media content plan for the event and brief in digital elements into agency to ensure social posts are capturing and influence sales



Experiential Marketing & Sponsorship Intern 

Discovery South Africa

During my time as a Marketing Intern, I worked on the first ever Discovery Rhythm Run event and my key responsibilities included: 

  • Briefing in design deliverable's to agency
  • Facilitating and assisting in race logistics
  • Aligning the property to Discovery’s core value of “making people healthier”.
  • Budgeting and making sure the property yielded a return on investment for its first
  • Understanding the rights allocation of the sponsorship, and making sure that key rights were used to their best of their ability
