Dr. Montgomery Johns began his studies in the medical field during his undergraduate career at the University of Nevada, Reno. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine, he attended the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles. Excelling in his studies, Dr. Montgomery Johns graduated in the top 20% of his class. After obtaining his medical degree, Dr. Montgomery Johns focused his training on advanced women’s medicine, completing his residency at one of the largest women’s hospitals in the country, the University of Hawai’i. In addition, Dr. Johns undertook clinical courses and perceptorships relating to advanced gynecologic and endoscopic surgery, bladder suspension and pelvic floor reconstruction, laser laparoscopy, laser pelviscopy, and operative hysteroscopy, among others. Finishing his postgraduate education, Dr. Montgomery Johns worked in many private and group practices throughout the United States prior to opening his own private practice in 1996. As the Medical Director at the Center for Advanced Women’s Medicine, Dr. Johns focuses on gynecologic and laparoscopic surgery. As a gynecologic surgeon, he offers a number of medical services including robotic and advanced laparoscopic surgery, pelvic floor reconstructive surgery, urogynecology, and hysteroscopy. Patients can rest assured they receive the most up-to-date and effective care from one of the only surgeons in the Fredericksburg, Virginia, area trained in these technologies. To give back to the community, Dr. Montgomery Johns provides free health care, including surgical care, at the Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic in Fredericksburg. The clinic provides care to individuals that are uninsured, not eligible for assistance through the government, and meet certain federal poverty guidelines. Dr. Johns also assisted Mary Washington Hospital by developing and setting up robotic and advanced laparoscopic gynecologic surgery programs. He also served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the hospital from 1993 to 1995. An avid fan of the history of the Civil War, Dr. Montgomery Johns is a reenactor at Civil War scenes. He also engages in clay shooting, golfing, and gardening in his spare time.
