Primary senior advisor and public affairs subject matter expert to the Commanding General.  Integrated planning through the Pentagon and across senior executive staffs.  Coordinated three Wounded Warrior Hunts for 45 service members in cooperation with Safari Club International.
Social Media Engagement
Integrated social media marketing of news releases and command information programs through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages as well as Defense-related distribution sites.  Trained and advised Marines through the executive staff on awareness of risks and opportunities of social media.
Newswriting
Primary release authority for more than a thousand combat-related news releases, improving productivity by 40 percent.  Managed two weekly base newspapers for more than four years and wrote more than 350 stories at Stars and Stripes newspaper as award-winning staff writer.
Crisis Communications
Coordinated crisis response to reduce potential impacts to trust and reputation of the Marine brand, including allegations of law of war violations, hazing, and misconduct.  Most required interagency collaboration and follow-on engagements in more than two-dozen hot-button issues at any given time. 
Media Engagement
Coordinated 134 media with White House Press Office for President Obama’s visit.  Managed more than 25 select media for Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden’s visit.  Supervised more than 200 media engagements in Afghanistan and Iraq in three deployments. Fostered relationships with San Diego media.
Communications Campaigns
Authored comprehensive annual communications campaign involving media outreach, community relations, event planning, and social media support and engagement.  Developed plans for three annual San Francisco Fleet Week celebrations and campaigns for combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Responsible for researching and generating news and photo content for base newspaper, including news, features and sports.Selected for independent assignments in Alaska, Puerto Rico, Antigua and Cuba.Work was routinely selected for inclusion in Leatherneck and Marines magazine, including cover photos.Produced coverage of Marines training throughout the Mediterranean and Black Seas.  Produced coverage and coordinated media coverage of Marine operations in Haiti and Albania.  Designed and produced two 240-page coffee table books of unit deployments.  Awarded USMCCA Award for Best Open Writing Category in writing

With the Director, served as the senior advisor and spokesperson to the Commanding General and key staff for a command of 55,000.  Capitalized on emerging news cycles and key events to demonstrate unique Marine capabilities and contributions.  Managed a team of 50 producing and distributing multimedia news products, media engagements, crisis communications, issue management, community relations, and assessments.

Served as advisor to the Commanding General, operations and recruiting staffs for media and community relations, and recruiting awareness campaigns.  Hosted nearly 250 media for local news and Educator Workshops, where more than 2,000 teachers learned how Marines are made.  Produced more than 120 weekly newspaper editions with a 20,000+ circulation.  Administered the Visitors’ Center for over 100,000 guests and managed over 170 tours for 9,500 members of civic and veterans groups.
