IT Manager

High Cotton Direct Marketing

Managed all IT operations for the plant.  Lead a team of nine developer and programmers in support of direct mail operations and automation.    As a member of the senior management team I participated in budgeting, long term strategic planning, and plan operations.  Workflow was very fast paced and demanding often with 75-125 concurrent projects.  I worked with a sister company to develop a disaster recover solution with each company backing up critical data to the others location.  I developed new quality control procedures in our software development that significantly reduced the number of errors that were occurring in client projects.  I often worked as a business analyst in developing new procedures for improved job workflow, one being a new fully automated mail piece tracking system capable of tracking a mail piece from the reception of the data from the client all the way through the production processes with the end result being tracked as delivered to the USPS for mailing.  I assisted with hands-on support for all company servers, desktops, and networks.

2004 - 2007

Chief Operations Officer

Action in Mailing, Inc.

As the COO and VP of Operations I was responsible for all plant production and operations.  I managed a team of four department managers and thirty two production employees.  I managed all IT, warehouse, plant production, and fulfillment operations.  I reorganized staff assessments resulting in a 15% reduction in full-time staffing.  During peak production periods I worked with outside staffing agencies to provide temporary staffing which I also managed.  Working as a senior company manager along with the President/CEO and CFO I actively participated in the strategic direction of the company and business development.  I assisted working with a partnering mail shop in Birmingham to develop disaster recover procedures to enable us an ability to resume critical plant operations in the event of a disaster.  As a business analyst I developed a fully automated fulfillment system capable of taking client data and orders via a web services component and automatically insert them into our third party fulfillment software which generated pick/pack tickets for product fulfillment.  Once fulfilled the orders were automatically transferred into our companies accounting system for invoicing.  System was fully automated from the point of receiving a clients order placed on a website shopping cart or data entry system, to final delivery to the USPS, FedEx, or UPS with full tracking information fed back to the client.

IT Manager

State of Alabama, Department of Senior Services

As the IT Manager I was a department head for a state agency overseeing all IT operations for the agency, thirteen regional Area Agency on Aging offices through-out the state, and over three hundred and fifty Senior Centers.  As a senior member of the agency I regularly participated in budgeting and strategic planning.  I managed a team of six programmer/analyst and one systems technician.  I also managed consultant programmers as needed for special projects and would prepare contract justification for presentation to legislative oversight committees for approval.  As the senior IT person for the agency I was also responsible for all business analyst, one project being a state-wide project where we developed a full feature Information Management System for all aging related services provided in the state.  The system included multiple SQL Server databases located at the state, one being in a special server room with visibility to the Internet, the other located at our state agency office, the two servers were setup to replicate data with each other.  We developed a fully comprehensive client/server application using Visual Studio used by the state office and the thirteen regional offices for managing all programs funded for senior services.  We also developed web based applications using Visual Studio .NET for direct management of the programs at all of the Senior Centers located through-out the state.  I designed and managed the development of an automated reporting system for reporting services funded through the Medicaid Waiver program that was designed to provide in-home health care services to clients in lieu of entry in a nursing home environment.  System was capable of transmitting HIPAA compliant claim data electronically to EDS for billing.  This model later received national recognition by the federal government for its efficiency.   I assisted daily in the hands-on support of all the agencies servers, desktops and mobile devices along with as needed support to each of our thirteen Area Agencies on Aging.  Our agency was an early adapter of LAN/WAN technologies and for many years I maintained active certification as a CNE for our networking operating systems.
