Hazardous Waste Technician


This is a part-time position at the Metro South Household Hazardous Waste facility receiving, categorizing and safely handling toxic wastes for regulated disposal or recycling per protocols. Uses my knowledge of chemistry, safety procedures, DOT/DEQ/EPA/Metro rules regarding hazardous waste for the manipulation of dangerous substances. As a team member, I help provide excellent customer service and education to households and businesses. I also actively support the facility goals to maximize internal reuse and recycling as well as to make approved reuse materials available to the community. I am certified to use the forklift to move heavy or fragile palletized and unpalletized materials. The position requires the strength to repeatedly lift loads up to 50 pounds and the agility to safely unload cars and trucks.

Master Recycler


Master Recycler, Clackamas County, OR I have performed over 650 hours of volunteer public educational outreach primarily organizing event recovery and creating presentations about recycling, waste reduction and responsible consumption in the Clackamas County area. Additionally, I participate in other activities throughout the Metro region including lectures to Master Recycler classes, as a green team supervisor and choice architect for large events, as a peer mentor, and as a recycling and sustainability consultant to local civic groups. As a member of the Lake Oswego Trash Team, we achieved event recovery rates(that is, waste that did not go to the landfill) from 40 to 95%. I also contribute proposal presentations, data analysis and report writing for this group. In 2014, I participated in the establishment of a new Master Recycler program in Tillamook County and then taught several sections of Class 1.

Surgical Procedures Subject Matter Expert

Surgical Procedures Subject Matter Expert, Systemic Vulnerabilities Working Group,, Corvallis, Oregon Participated as a volunteer team member in an analysis of the steps of a surgical procedure to identify systemic vulnerabilities to human error, to rate and prioritize errors and to generate appropriate countermeasures to improve operating room safety. Two scientific papers were published based on this work.

Clinic Manager, Milwaukie, OR I performed the day to day management of this solo medical practice with up to three staff. Typical front office tasks consisted of answering phones, scheduling appointments and procedures, maintaining the patient database, instructing patients, preparing correspondence, organizing the schedule and medical records control. Financial tasks included preparation of tax reports, payroll, billing and collections, accounts payable and receivable, negotiating contracts and budgeting. Management responsibilities included hiring, training and supervising clinical and clerical staff, developing written and electronic patient materials, compliance with governmental regulations, establishing operational and workflow protocols, and maintaining physician credentials. Project management tasks included researching, recommending and arranging capital purchases, and the build-out of new office space. Clinical tasks included phlebotomy, performing lab tests per CLIA license, overall lab supervision, specimen preparation and advice nursing. Absolute confidentiality was strictly maintained.
