Michelle Reiken

I am an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, ANCC Board Certified,  with active licenses and prescriptive authority in the States of Florida, New Jersey, and New York.  I am also a Board Certified Diabetes Educator. I am self employed in Florida where I now permanently reside. My previous employment ended in February 2008 when I became a dislocated worker from Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York. I took the opportunity to deal with a long standing medical issue that required a lengthy rehabilitation. I have completely recovered.  I  permanently relocated from New Jersey to Florida and now that personal issues have been resolved, I am ready to return to work.

I have worked with Diabetic patients for most of my career, beginning as a Home Health Nurse and after receiving my MSN, I  took the NCBDE Board exam and was certified as a Diabetes Educator.  I have been involved in educating patients, multi-disciplinary staff, student nurses and the community at large about diabetes, its co-morbidities, and self management skills.  I have participated with physicians, nurse managers, and other clinicians in interdisciplinary partnerships for patient care. I have directed diabetes outpatient educational programs and have applied for and received American Diabetes Association recognition for my employers.  I have developed educational seminars and have presented on many subjects concerning diabetes to staff, patients and physicians.  Currently, I am in private practice in my home office.
