After earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the United State Military Academy, Mike Cero joined the United State Army Corps of Engineers in 1985. Serving until 1994, Mike Cero earned the Ranger School tab, Air Assault badge and Senior Parachutist badge. Including an two combat tours in Iraq (1989 & 2005) , Mike Cero spent more than six years stationed overseas. For his outstanding military service, Mike Cero was honored with the United States Army Bronze Star and an Honorary Mississippi Citizenship for his contributions with the 155th Mississippi Brigade Combat Team.After leaving the Army, Mike Cero pursued a Master of Business Administration at Seattle University. Upon graduation in 1996, Mike Cero joined PACCAR and relocated his family to Mercer Island, Washington. Originally hired as a Unit Supervisor of an assembly line at PACCAR, Mike Cero completed a training course in Six Sigma business strategies during his time with the company. This ongoing training prepared Mike Cero to oversee the Six Sigma Supplier Quality program.In 2007, Michael Cero was elected to the Mercer Island City Council. As one of seven councilmembers on Mercer Island, Mike Cero helps determine policies, budgets, programs, and appointees to boards and committees. Now serving a term through 2015, Michael Cero focuses his policymaking on Parks & Recreation and Public Safety. Mike Cero participated on the Mercer Island Senior Commission, Disability Board, and now serves on the Youth & Family Services Advisory Board and sits as a PTA Legislative Representative. A father of three, Mike Cero previously served as the Lakeridge PTA President. Currently, Mike Cero volunteers to the Mercer Island Rotary.
