Employed at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital - joint appointment with the University of the Witwatersrand.

Responsibilities include

  • Anaesthesia Provision (Clinical work)
    • Responsible for delivery of Anaesthesia and peri-operative care to patients presenting for surgery in multiple surgical disciplines.
  • Teaching and Academic Responsibilities
    • Undergraduate
      • Ad hoc teaching in the theatre environment
      • Formalised lecture at the start of each GEMP III block to rotating students. (Every 6 weeks)
  • Postgraduate - Registrars
    • I am responsible for the formal FCA Part I teaching program across the entire WITS circuit - including academic content and logistics. To this end I have established an online presence where candidates can view the timetable, and where tutorials, mock questions and notes can be posted. (http://www.fcaone.wordpress.com)
    • Delivery of formal tutorials to candidates for the FCA I and FCA II exams.
    • Non formalised teaching in the theatre environment.

I have been a specialist anaesthesiologist  since January 2004. 

My areas of clinical interest include 

Cardiac Anaesthesia (particularly Paediatric) 

Ultrasound Guided Regional Anaesthesia 

I have been involved in medical education, especially of postgraduate anaesthesia trainees. I have sat on the examination panel for the FCA I Exam.
