I have over nine years experience in marketing for small to medium sized businesses. Starting off in the trenches writing copy and executing on multi-channel marketing campaigns, I achieved excellent results which eventually led to a promotion to a leadership position managing a team of marketers, copywriters, Web content managers and graphic designers. As a part of a leadership team I was often called upon to provide thought leadership and counsel during new product launches and business development activities.

Working under the principle that good marketing isn’t about spending a lot of money, I excel at maximizing modest marketing budgets, and helping small and mid-size businesses get the most out of their marketing dollars.

Marketing Director


Revitalized marketing activities for small online education company:

  • Ensured consistency of brand, identity, positioning, and messaging.
  • Managed partner relationships and executed on mutually beneficial marketing activities.
  • Created the concept for a new email marketing template and implemented guidelines for writing compelling and actionable text.
  • Revamped the customer newsletter to make it easier for people to read and find the information they desired. I also aimed to bring it in line with the look and feel of other marketing pieces.
  • Conceived of the new homepage design in order to maximize the amount of information displayed on the homepage while maintaining a friendly and usable site. I coordinated with contract designers and in-house technical personnel to implement the new design.
  • Re-wrote copy for large sections of the site and selected all photography.

I provided strategic marketing leadership for the Data Warehousing Institute, a division of 1105 Media. I began with the company in 2001 and through a series of promotions became marketing director in 2005. In my current role I manage a team of marketers, graphic designers, Web managers, and print producers who support all products and programs including educational events, online programs, research programs, and membership.

  • Development and implementation of strategic marketing plans which include direct mail, e-mail, Web marketing, and public relations components
  • Provide thought leadership and counsel during new product and program development including branding, positioning and pricing
  • Responsibility for multi-million dollar marketing budget including development, measuring and monitoring, and reporting to leadership team
  • Supervise nine person team comprised of marketing managers, graphic designers, Web editors, print and Web producers, and oversee contract personnel such as SEO/SEM consultants
  • Manage relationship with key strategic partners and vendors, and oversee partner marketing activities
  • Work with international staff and partners to ensure consistency of brand, identity, position, and messaging
  • Represent business units in executive and corporate strategy meetings
  • Reduced event marketing expense by 25% between '07 and '08 by streamlining marketing efforts
  • Negotiated media trade with Business Week in 2007 gaining free exposure for our company with 900,000+ print subscribers

I worked on a multi-functional team including technologists, professional service personnel, and account managers to support the data warehousing needs of one of the company's largest accounts, Kmart. In my role I worked directly with the director of data warehousing and other senior level customers to define needs and identify appropriate technologies:

  • Negotiating pricing and sales contracts with internal parties and with customer
