Summary

I have been developing and managing brands, organizational messages and integrated marketing and communications plans for more than six years. I have particular strength in project management and in recognizing and implementing communications initiatives that achieve results consistent with organizational goals. I have demonstrated my ability to develop and execute the processes that assist organizations in communicating their key messages, engaging their stakeholders and developing sales leads.

I completed the Public Relations Diploma program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University with honours in 2006 and was awarded the CPRS/Dean Miller Scholarship. I'm currently offering Marketing and Public Relations consultancy services while advancing my skills in design software and  learning how to effectively incorporate social media tools into the Marketing/Communications mix.

2006 - 2008

Manager of Marketing Communications

Ascenta Capital Partners Inc.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and the Director of Client Services, the Manager of Marketing Communications was responsible for marketing the Ascenta Group of companies (Ascenta Capital Partners Inc. and Ascenta Finance Corp.) and providing strategic marketing support to Ascenta Capital's account executives and their clients in the mining, technology, green energy and biotech industries. Working closely with senior management of both the client companies and the Ascenta Group, I managed the development of overall communication strategies while providing creative input on new marketing tactics and channels. I developed critical paths and budgets for tactical completion and ensured elements were delivered on time and within budget. The effective coordination and motivation of sub-contractors and other team members was critical in this role.

The Ascenta Group is comprised of Ascenta Capital Partners Inc., an investor relations agency; and Ascenta Finance Corp., a supplier of corporate finance/investment banking services. I was hired as a Communications Specialist in 2006 and promoted to Manager of Marketing Communications in 2007, after approximately 18 months. Notable achievements during the last year included the following:

CLIENTS

  • Developed and executed strategic communications plans, employing a wide range of marketing communications initiatives, including corporate website design and content development; online branding and lead generation strategies; trade show participation and other speaking engagements; writing and creative development of news releases and printed collateral; media buys and ad creation.
  • Cultivated and leveraged relationships with the media, resulting in frequent national (industry) media coverage and a regional television feature.
  • Managed the strategic development and implementation of monthly hosted events designed to leverage the clients' brands in the investment community and secure financing. A 200 percent increase in attendance was achieved.
  • Established solid relationships with a diverse group of clientele and suppliers by consistently delivering thoughtful and informed input on marketing and communications strategies, meeting deadlines and staying within budget.

ASCENTA

  • Developed and executed strategic communications plans, employing a diverse array of marketing communication initiatives, including online branding and lead generation strategies; sponsorships and speaking engagements; printed collateral and promotional items; cultivating media relationships, media buys and ad creation. Achieved 200 percent growth in Ascenta Finance's database and a 400 percent increase in traffic to Ascenta Capital's website.
  • Was responsible for overseeing and motivating the web development team as we created two new corporate websites on time and 60 percent below approved budget. Maintained dialogue with webmasters and ensured content was continually updated and optimized.
  • Managed implementation of the Exact Target email marketing solution, including integration with the company's websites and sales team database; provided training and support for other team members during critical adoption phase.
  • Established the firm's external newsletter (Resource Investor Monthly).
  • Identified an evolving market segment and leveraged existing supplier relationships to develop a powerful new product (The Essentials). Developed product marketing plan, sales and marketing materials, and identified potential sales leads.

Marketing and General Manager

Duck Duck Mousse Catering

As the Marketing Manager of Duck Duck Mousse Catering, I was instrumental in developing the firm's brand, messaging and overall marketing strategy. As General Manager, I was responsible for overseeing all facets of the firm's finely orchestrated corporate events, fundraisers and weddings. My role was to manage event logistics and sub-contractors and to provide leadership, supervision and motivation to staff members to deliver events, averaging in size from 100 to 200 guests, which were noted for high-quality service and exceptional professionalism. I oversaw numerous complex projects and high-stakes events, established solid client relationships and expectations, set budgets and critical paths, and ensured delivery of all elements on time and within budget. 

  • Developed the firm's brand and positioning, and identified target markets.
  • Developed and executed a strategic marketing plan that employed a diverse array of marketing communications channels and lead generation strategies, including sponsorships, tradeshow participation, speaking/teaching opportunities, printed collateral and promotional items, website content and creative development, media buys and ad creation.
  • Wrote and oversaw the creative development of all printed and online promotional material.
  • At the end of two years, this new company had 40 solid client relationships and annual revenues of $100,000.
