Graphic Design & Communications Manager

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands (BGCM) is the leading youth service agency and the largest in the Omaha, NE and Council Bluffs, IA metro area for over 55 years. BGCM helps over 7,000 kids in high-risk neighborhoods receive the direction and educational support they need through award winning programs at 11 locations and three more in construction.

  • Works closely with the Chief Development Officer and advising the senior team on all major marketing and communication projects
  • Played a key role on a development team responsible for raising over $6 million annually through grants, small gifts, major gifts and special events
  • Managing a $25,000 marketing, print and advertising budget
  • Responsible for the development and use of the BGCM brand and messaging in the community
  • Strategized and executed two unique direct mail campaign totaling over $150,000 in donations
  • Incorporating a cross promotional marketing calendar from Boys & Girls Clubs of the America into BGCM's marketing mix for national partners such as GAP, Buffalo Wild Wings, Lowe's, Planet Fitness, Younkers etc.
  • Maintaining relationships with local companies and partners through co-branding and cross promotion opportunities (Subaru, Cox, Nest, First National Bank, U.S. Cellular, United Way of the Midlands etc.)
  • Organized all pro and in-house video projects and produced two targeted public service announcement videos with one currently airing in the Omaha metro area
  • Managing BGCM's 9 Facebook pages along with Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts
  • Analyzing social media, email, and web metrics to improve communication and marketing strategy
  • Strategized social media campaigns and implemented paid Facebook ad to boost awareness and support fundraising efforts
  • Building email campaigns in MailChimp and growing a 3,500 recipient email list
  • Coordinated monthly press releases and media coverage
  • Reduced cost by working closely with creative, print and business vendors to negotiate lower prices and better service deals
  • Leading the redesign of the BGCM website to keep up with industry standards with responsive design, improve user experience, and a mobile friendly donation process
  • Conceptualizing the theme, design and copy for major print pieces: Annual Reports, Sponsorship Booklets, Outcomes Sheet, Calendars, Event Programs, brochures, print ads, and digital ads etc.
  • Designing custom print pieces and digital graphics for 10 annual fundraisers/special events including: invitations, mailings, letterheads, forms, programs, digital graphics, signage, promotional material, ads, and billboards

Bloom connects +500,000 professionals in the beauty industry through digital social interaction, career development, contest platforms and opportunities for professional online influence.

  • Coordinating social media strategy to support the initiatives and goals of Bloom’s partner brands and organizations
  • Planning, creating and scheduling of social media content using Ahalogy, Buffer, Latergramme, Hootsuite and IFTTT
  • Gathering and analyzing social media analytics reports to check on the effectiveness of each social media channel and the performance of the post
  • Designing digital and print marketing materials including emails, web banners, landing pages, printed sales material, print ads, digital ads, social posts etc.
  • Lead the redesign of the Bloom.com homepage and supporting pages for improve user experience and functionality on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
  • Supported the “Bloom In-profile Careers Tab” project by conceptualizing the layout, fields, and user experience for the new product. The new Careers tab feature contributed to a 15% increase in job post creation.
  • Directed the overhaul and UX of the Bloom resume tool to include a Resume Center with access to support, export tools with improved functionality, templates and layouts to meet user needs, and the relocation of portfolio creation/editing for improved accessibility.
