E.S.O.L. Paraprofessional

School Board of Manatee County

My duties included assisting the students who had a home language that was other than English. I helped children from various ethnic backgrounds such as: Chinese, Vietnamese, Brazilian, German, Slovakian, Belgian, Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican,  Haitian, and  others. Communicating with the parents was part of my daily work as well as assisting their teachers with making academic accommodations for the assignments.

Substitute Teacher

School Board of Manatee County

I became a substitute teacher to get a feel for the education field and to learn about the local schools. My educational goals originally were geared toward this field. The position of substitute allowed me to cover a wide range of schools in the area as well as the certain facets of daily operation therein. It was through this opportunity that I was able to secure a full time position with the school board as an E.S.O.L. paraprofessional.

Penta County Vocational

This was a vocational school that was attended in the first part of the day and with the requirement of holding a part time job. I also took classes at my home high school and was considered a student at both schools concurrently. Through this program I was a member of D.E.C.A. and won several district awards and then placed 3rd at State competition in the area of Business Math or Mathematics of Distribution.
