Michael Leander Nielsen

Michael Leander Nielsen

Summary

Michael Leander Nielsen summary:I am a seasoned marketing and marketing/sales technology expert with more than 20 years of hands-on as well as management experience from 3 continents. My experience and expertise in the area marketing communications and marketing/sales technology is truly unique. I am passionate about customer lifecycle marketing management automation, CRM, permission marketing, internet marketing and - not the least - marketing metrics and how to obtain the highest possible ROMI (Return on Marketing Investments) in the areas of acquisition and retention. An experienced speaker, I am also very fond of presenting at conferences, workshops, seminars and corporate kick-off meetings. Not sure exactly how many times I have done that, but it is more than 200 times in some 12-13 countries.

Marketing and building companies

With more than 20 years of hands-on and management experience, I finally understood in 2007 what my real passion is. Eventhough more than 50% of the people who know me well, claim that I can "sell sand in Sahara/Ice on Greenland", and therefore should focus on sales management, I find that my real passion is marketing and building companies.  But I need to be involved with sales, but find that I am not a very good sales person if I do not possess a passion for what I'm selling/offering.

Objective

The objective of this visual CV is to provide an overview of my skills, my experiences and what I perceive to be the most valuable learnings I have made from my 20+ year career. Please note that I am not looking for a permanent job, but if you want to need an effective expert to discuss, fix and/or implement: marketing automation, permission marketing, CRM or simply how you can connect the marketing communications and marketing technology for greater impact, please do get in touch using my Xing profile.

Interest

My interests include;- my family- travelling- golf- backgammon- reading fiction and non-fiction, especially about Russia before 1917, about ancient cultures, about history, about new trends in marketing and marketing technology- blogging

It all became a whole lot less fun when investors decided that the internet was going to die. And eventually the company died in 2002, a little less than 1 year after I resigned.

CEO - Chief Executive Officer

Direct Media Publishers Inc.

Founded DMP (Direct Media Publishers) with an intention to build a combined print broker/advertising agency, I ended up building a publishing and direct marketing company, which, amongst other endeavours, published the first successful free newspaper in Copenhagen, initiated the worlds first free selective newspaper distribution to households and were the first newspaper - to my knowledge - to distribute free papers through newspaper stands on train stations. Some say we were some 15 years ahead of our time. I agree - timing is indeed everything.
