Michael has taken various classes from me including Principles and Practices of Public Relations and Public Relations Ethics. This semester he is enrolled in my Public Relations and The Media course. The end of the semester project Michael completed as part of my Principles and Practices demonstrated his ability to apply the principles and theory discussed in class to a real-world client’s situation. In Public Relations Ethics, Michael and his group members tackled some of the ethical dilemmas PR practitioners face in an insightful manner and demonstrated their ability to analyze a problem and think critically to devise an ethical solution.
As Michael’s academic advisor, I meet with him each semester before registration to discuss his plans for the upcoming semester. He is always prepared for our meetings, and his choice in classes demonstrates that he is thinking strategically about his future.
Michael is a dedicated and conscientious student who helps foster a positive learning environment both inside and outside of the classroom. He is a creative individual and is developing his design skills through his minor in Media Art. His talent and skills make him an ideal candidate in the working world. Additionally, he has taken Public Relations Writing which has prepared him for creating various types of content for publications and the web.
Outside of the classroom, Michael has demonstrated his leadership ability by serving as the Advertising Manager and Sports Editor for the campus newspaper.
Michael’s work ethic, practical skills, and creative ability make him one of Westminster’s outstanding public relations students.
I have known Mike for the past year as he has worked in the Westminster College Sports Information office. As his direct supervisor, I have had the opportunity to observe Mike develop into a well-rounded sports professional as well as a diligent student.
Mike takes his work seriously whether he’s in the office working, working at various athletic events, or in the classroom.
Throughout his time in my office, Mike has always showed initiative as he has learned a wide variety of skills that include Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Mike has used his Photoshop skills to create weekly fliers that promote Titan home events and has also applied his InDesign knowledge with his contribution to the Titan media guides.
Mike, a public relations major, was named on the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) All-Academic First Team, the Dean’s List for three semesters, and earned a spot on the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District Football Team. He is also a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and works with the College’s newspaper (The Holcad).
After working with Mike this past year, I believe he will succeed and will be a great asset for your organization.
