A successful entrepreneur in the entertainment and hospitality sectors, Michael Capponi of SouthBeach, Miami, is the Founder and present Owner of the Capponi Group of Companies. Born in Belgium, Michael Capponi spent his youth learning the trades of his father, a nightclub owner and restaurateur, and his mother, an interior designer. Every year he adds more to the Miami landscape as a dynamic and accomplished nightlife promoter, a luxury real estate designer and developer, and a dedicated philanthropist. Within the Capponi Group of Companies, Michael Capponi directs the operations and growth activities of four businesses. They include the Capponi Construction Group, LLC, a licensed Florida contractor led by proven professionals in the business of building high-end residential and commercial projects, and Capponi Properties, LLC, which focuses on developing unparalleled luxury residential and hospitality properties throughout South Florida. The earliest business venture of the Group, Capponi Events, LLC, is Miami’s best-known promoter of exclusive nightlife events and a current or past affiliate of nearly every one of SouthBeach’s leading clubs, including Mansion, Prive, and LIV. The Capponi Group Haiti, LLC, was formed in the wake of the 2010 earthquake that devastated the island nation. The business focuses on redeveloping Haiti’s historic coastal town of Jacmel into an international tourism destination while simultaneously contributing to educational and economic opportunities for local Haitians. This last initiative in particular has caught the attention of worldwide press and led such publications as Caribbean Network Magazine and the Wall Street Journal to interview Mr. Capponi about his philanthropy. Michael Capponi has received numerous awards for his humanitarian efforts. These recognitions include the key to the City of Miami Beach on two separate occasions (2001 and 2011), the Edeyo Foundation’s 2010 Humanitarian of the Year award, and the SHUZZ non-profit’s 2011 Philanthropist of the Year award.
Jan 2010 - Present
In 2010, realizing the complex nature of the developments he wanted to pursue in the future, Michael founded Capponi Construction Group. The firm brought together a team of construction industry experts, including Kenneth J. Gross, Robert Wrieden and John Gallina, all of whom have proven track records of building the kind of high-end and luxury residential and commercial projects that continue to make South Florida one of the most vibrant destinations in the United States. Capponi Construction Group leverages Michael’s passion and talent for the development of economically successful destinations in South Florida with the expertise of highly accomplished construction industry veterans who can bring complex real estate projects to fruition. Among Capponi Construction Group’s high-profile projects is HollywoodBeachVillage. This 350,000 square foot multi-use property with 225 rooms, a retail and entertainment component, and four restaurants will help revitalize historic HollywoodBeach and transform it into a new entertainment district. Capponi Construction group has also provided pro-bono services to the Miami Rescue Mission for the construction of a 125-bed homeless shelter for men and clinic. This is just one of the many ways in which Michael has given back to the community that has given him so much since his teenage years.
