I have 20+ years of IT experience and 10+ years of experience as an executive in IT organizations ranging from AOL, the American Institute of Architects, I have been a Surrogate CIO and CIO for federal government contracting organizations. My organizations have garnered many awards such as the Best of Reston - IT Services, 2015 and CIO Review 20 Most Promising ECM Solution Providers,2016 and 2015. My teams have won 5 webby awards for websites and mobile apps. I am a technology advocate that evangelizes user centered design. I provide thought leadership and strategic direction for products and initiatives and work with key stakeholders to create, foster and assess/create technology strategies that are attainable. I have a great track record in recruiting and maintaining top-notch talent. I have managed P&L for 100+million dollar contracts and managed as many as 650 people.
Studying and working with hundreds of companies uniquely enables me to distill the lessons learned. This experience helps to identify the hurdles that organizations face and create plans that enable success while mitigating risk. I have been fortunate to work with many outstanding executives and learning from them their best practices. One of the most important lessons learned is how to guide an organization with unique and diverse challenges to successfully implement a technology road-map.

Leading the technology staff in support of the Department of State’s Adobe Experience Manager (AEM / CQ) content management system and GIS initiatives. The travel.state.gov site had 840 million hits in 2016. It is distributed on 17 servers across 4 power grids in 7 cities with zero downtime in two years. Moved all data to the cloud and created fully automated continuous integration (CI/CD) AWS development environment including github and bamboo integration.
Surrogate CIO to Network Designs . Led the organization to CMMI level 2 certification. Moved all content and data to AWS. Provide thought leadership and strategic direction for products and initiatives and works with key stakeholders to assess technology strategy. Developing and executing technical, tactical process, business, and content strategies. Externally leading the FAA Enterprise Architecture (EA) initiative utilizing both the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA), and Gartner (formerly, the Meta Framework). Led the Enterprise Information Management initiative at the FAA.
Providing senior leadership to lead the open data initiative and created the data center of excellence at the FAA. Leading architectural analysis to create a simple and concise vision, and creating the organizational plan with senior federal leaders. Provide thought leadership and governance support for the identification and the selection of tools for the enterprise recent projects have included enterprise information management, master data management tools, interactive development tools, data quality tools, data migration and synchronization and ETL tools.
Leading web initiatives and the transition to an Enterprise Content Management System (CMS) for the FAA including faa.gov, the FAA employees site, nextgen (next generation air traffic control), aeronav and FAA wide application inventory. Coordinating requirements gathering and analysis for an enterprise tools such as BPM, MDM and CMS. Working across business lines creating pilot groups for multiple technologies and running focus groups to measure each system. Working with the FAA to select the best fit and implementing the best solution.
Executive position, on the AIA Management Council, that provides leadership and strategic direction for web products and initiatives and works with fellow Management Council members on AIA’s integrated online strategy. This involves developing and executing technical, tactical process, business, and content strategies and plans to successfully deliver the AIA web products and initiatives to market, as well as managing, maintaining, evaluating and adapting the site(s) and all related products and initiatives over time to ensure that established benchmarks and goals as defined by the AIA Board of Directors and Executive Team are met.

Serve as the primary point of contact for the organizations web development and maintenance. Responsible for the collection, reporting, and maintenance of metrics and measurements processes to evaluate timeliness and product quality of Web launches and ongoing product and service performance. Manages the development of detailed business and functional product requirements resulting in the documenting of measurable and coherent plans and associated documentation. Responsible for the developing and maintaining production and planning processes for web based products, initiatives, and sites including the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and guidelines. Manages the planning for product development, assuring collaborative deliberation within AIA, timely release schedules, quality product development and adequate documentation.
Lead the Web development needs of the Institute by working closely with the AIA leadership; content development team, and cross-functional teams to identify and plan development of online tools and applications. Serves as primary point of contact for issues relating to development, implementation, and administration of the CMS and related Web technologies. Makes recommendations for and direct implementation of new technological enhancements of the Web site that facilitate more efficient production and usable business and content tools.
Set standard process or procedure were in place all the different groups throughout the organization including its 283 chapters worked independently prior to this unit being created in 2008.
Climbed the corporate ladder -- starting as a associate software engineer, software engineer, senior software engineer, principle software engineer, lead engineer, system architect and lastly director/system architect. Varying roles and responsibilities. Ascended the career ladder in a forward thinking positive culture . We moved the organization from waterfall to agile.
An example of the day to day would be to leading the web development needs of the online marketing organization at AOL by working closely with the AOL senior leadership; content development team, and cross-functional teams to identify and plan development of online tools and applications. Serves as primary point of contact for issues relating to development, implementation, and administration of the registration process and related internet based technologies.
