Trained staff on registration database and office operations. Managed tour operators and staff on domestic and international study tours. Administered registration process for 150 trips annually.

While studying Instructional Design and Development, collaboratively designing, developing and delivering an online training environment as a real-world project for the Virginia Department of Education, T/TAC Online.Gaining competence in facilitating effective communication with programmers, end-users and clients who support the online initiative.

  • Conducting all phases of the Instructional Design process to develop online training
  • Learning by doing while in an Immersion environment
  • Training Virginia education professionals in developing online training modules
  • Learning basic skills to apply Camtasia, Captivate, Podcasting, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash while developing training modules

User Stakeholder and Engagement Change Consultant

ATG Associates

Delivered awareness presentations, training and adoption leadership to support the Department of State Information and Resource Management SMART outreach initiative. Partnered in the campaign to promote and transition into the new and improved collaboration application tools (Microsoft Outlook and SharePoint), which includes change management, adoption of the new system, as well as training.Participated in application usability testing prior to piloting and world wide deployment.Effectively managed training by building strong alliances with FSI (Foreign Service Institute) to transfer general user and systems administrator training responsibilities, business rules and best practices.

Key Achievements:

  • Ensured the data in the SMART website was current and user friendly.
  • Devised plan to recreate and transfer existing data from Portal-X to a SharePoint website.
  • Prepared awareness presentations for various Department of State stakeholders.
  • Created training modules for in-house system administrator SME’s.

Senior Analyst / Project Manager – U.S. Navy

Provided technical leadership and support for Team Submarine within NAVSEA. Train personnel on corporate document management system Livelink, as well as ApproveIT, and Microsoft Office products. Design and test application training to fit individual learning styles and unique end-user needs. Write quarterly financial reports, and develop needs based plans for project continuation. Effectively manage projects by building strong alliances with client contractor and government personnel while tracking needs, trends, and project mandates.

    Key Achievements:

  • Charged with engagement controller duties such as budget administration and analysis through monthly workbook and time sheet reconciliation, submitting invoices and status reports, and configuring and presenting yearly budget projections.
  • Devised internal marketing strategies to elicit and enhance personnel application usage, leading to significant increases despite system challenges. 
  • Designed and implemented Livelink workflow diagrams and business process templates while developing detailed, comprehensive tip sheets and manuals facilitating user training.

Training Specialist / Project Manager - U.S. Dept of State

Served as engagement controller while interfacing with project team and cross functional stakeholders and developing user and functional requirements, risk assessments, and operational qualification test plans for Medical Informatics Division (MED). Implemented and tested software upgrade for eMED while training end users and documenting process. Managed performance and professional development of two employees. Provided technical support to more than 150 end users, serving as subject matter expert for all Microsoft Office products and State Department MED applications. Designed and compiled data from customer satisfaction surveys.

  • Enhanced business processes by developing comprehensive, strategic training initiatives
  • Built productive relationships with key stakeholders facilitating overall team management, training,  and requirements gathering for workflow and business processes.
  • Developed and employed training materials for multiple learning styles; generated tip sheets, user manuals, and developed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for client applications.

Senior Change Analyst - U.S. Navy

Provided management consulting for U.S. Department of Navy. Created effective training materials for personnel and support contractors. Conducted in–depth analysis of business processes and application descriptions, recommending and implementing changes as necessary.

      Key Achievements:

  • Triggered significant efficiency improvements by reducing redundant information technology applications and systems and decreasing amount of logistics systems.
  • Guided management teams through problem solving and communicated status reports.

Systems Trainer/Analyst


Traveled to U.S. Embassies to upgrade and configure software and install hardware. Organized software rollouts and related training schedules. Consistently delivered high-quality customer service while building strong customer alliances facilitating remote and classroom training, and ongoing refresher courses.

    Key Achievements:

  • Built and led classroom, desk side, and online training curriculum for Foreign Service Officers and Nationals on how to process Visa’s according to Consular Affairs standards.
  • Maximized productivity and efficiency by utilizing best practices to identify and correct software and workflow issues.

Shahron Williams van Rooji

Dr. Williams van Rooij teaches courses in the e-Learning graduate certificate program using course formats that model the various e-Learning delivery modes and emphasizing the application of instructional design principles and learning theories to e-Learning in both educational and training settings. Dr. Williams van Rooji also taught the Instructional Design course.

Brenda Bannan

Brenda Bannan, my professor and advisor, in the Immersion Instructional Technology program at George Mason University. She is particulary interested in design research, Dr. Bannan has supervised numerous learning technology design and development projects and is currently working on a new Doctoral program at GMU focusing on design process, design research and diffusion of innovations.

Masters in Education

I am currently pursuing a Masters in Education in Instructional Design and Development with an emphasis on Technology. This program allows me to immerse in a project based experience where I utilize and develop group management and collaboration skills, instructional design and development skills as well as project management skills.  Because this educational experience is based on authentic learning, our group prepares and presents assignments as final deliverables to our clients.
