I am currently in my second year of journalism studies at the University of Technology Sydney. I am currently engaged in part time study as a result of transferring from the Charles Sturt University, Bathurst.

I am balancing my studies with a number of industry related jobs. My first journalism based role was with the Nepean News. After beginning as an intern, I have now progressed to Sports Editor and Senior Journalist. I also work in the same roles for the Hawkesbury Independent which is a monthly publication.

In October 2011, I began working with Football NSW as a grassroots writer. This has helped my skills in the sports industry to develop. I now continue my work in grassroots while also writing stories on the NSW Premier League.

Last year, I took on an internship with international football website  as well as featuring a number of match reports for At present, I am engaged in an internship with the Australian Paralympic Committee as they work on preparations for London 2012.

I am always looking to challenge myself in the media environment and fuel my passion for sports.

Senior Journalist/Sports Editor

Nepean News

After beginning as an intern in October 2010, I was employed as a journalist at the Nepean News in March 2011. Since that time, I have stepped up into the roles of Senior Journalist and Sports Editor. The responsibilities have allowed me to increase my awareness within the media industry and improve my writing skills while working to a deadline.

Journalist/Sports Journalist

Hawkesbury Independent

The Hawkesbury Independent is affiliated with the Nepean News so I have been working in both roles for more than 18 months. The Independent is a monthly publication and I am involved in writing general news, feature pieces and the sports section. This requires sourcing my own stories, attending local sports matches (including Penrith Panthers' feeder side Windsor Wolves) and editing on deadline.

Grassroots Journalist

Football NSW

Football NSW is the governing body for football (soccer) in this state. My main role is as a grassroots journalist which involves liaising with 32 associations across NSW to promote the sport and the individual needs of all association based clubs. I have experimented with other roles at Football NSW including coverage of the 2012 Australian National Futsal Championships in Canberra and match day reports at the 2012 NSW Super League Grand Finals.

More recently, I have been assigned to write stories for the NSW Premier League, which is considered the second tier to A-League football. In this position, I have written match reports in two matches from the opening six rounds. After watching the match, I am required to write a 1000 word report with quotes from both coaches to a one hour deadline.

As previews to the matches, I have also written two Premier League features which profile high performing players.

May 2012 - Present

Australian Paralympic Committee

I recently began working as an intern in the communications department at the APC. My initial duties were to obtain quotes from the Wheelchair Rugby and Goalball teams that were used in press releases when team announcements were made.

Mar 2011 - Aug 2011

Intern Journalist

Goal International

As an intern for the international website, I was required to source football related stories from countries across Europe. This involved looking at sports news websites and the official websites of clubs to find news that would be relevant to readers across the globe. Although I was only rostered on for one shift each week, I would write up to 8 stories in a four hour period as deadlines were strict to get the news out first. Some of my stories also attracted 70+ comments.
