My name is Marco Blasi. I graduated in Economics (advanced DES course of degree) from Università Bocconi in Milan and I was conferred an MBA degree from the Anderson Graduate School of Management (UCLA). During my course of studies I concentrated on Economics, Econometrics, EU Economics and Policies, Finance and International Business and Management.

I have a solid CFO background (I worked for major multinational companies in several industries) coupled with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. In my last assignment as Group CFO, I had twelve different companies reporting to me, including our Argentinean branch. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

As Head of Strategic Business Development at PMC Operations, I started negotiations with the Serbian Ministry of Energies and Mines for the development of bio-masses powered factories and CO2 emission abatement plants. I worked on feasibility studies of green-powered projects linked to sustainable development of poor areas in less developed countries.<o:p></o:p>

I managed several system integration processes in multinational organizations, setting up Accounting and ERP systems (e.g.: Hyperion, JDE) that would comply with US GAAP, IAS/IFRS and national accounting standards. I was also in charge of HR and IT functions. I am certified in Change Management (PROSCI)<o:p></o:p>

As CFO at Universal Music Italy, market leader in the record industry, I was also in charge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, as well as responsible for new media activities. I worked with Corporate Finance, International Business Affairs and Corporate Strategy from the International Headquarters in London, UK. I managed the merger between Universal Music S.p.A. and PolyGram in Italy, and achieved total annual savings in excess of Euro 6.7 Million. I opened the Digital Music Division in Italy in 2001. Under my direction, digital business went from zero to representing 6% of the Net Turnover of the company (and about 20% of EBITDA) in three years. I managed the re-engineering of content and style of the company’s internet site, which was awarded Best Music Site in Italy in 2004. I secured sponsorship and co-marketing contributions that accounted for over 3 Million Euro working with private companies and institutions (e.g.. Progetto Italia, Trust of Telecom Italia that fosters Italian artists’ innovative initiatives). <o:p></o:p>

Currently, I am Partner in a consulting group and I focus on the areas of Finance, Business Plan Development, International Business Development, Change Management and Contracts Negotiation. I have finalized a partnership deal with a major international TLC company to provide innovative portable devices and system infrastructure for a remote assistance ECG service to the Italian National Health System (for a client from telemedicine industry). I am in charge of development projects in Eastern Europe, dealing with local authorities and business, for a Business Process Outsourcing client. I am managing the start-up of a Shared Services Centre in Belgrade to assist Italian SME’s entering the Serbian market.<o:p></o:p>

I am familiar with multilateral negotiations having dealt with unions and Government representatives at national level for restructuring projects of private business. I have successfully worked on development plans in different industrial sectors and countries. I am fluent in Italian (mother tongue), English, and French. I have a good working knowledge ofSpanish and Serbo-Croatian and have studied Russian. <o:p></o:p>

I believe that my twenty-year experience working with diverse cultures, heading multinational teams, coupled with my desire to work for an international organization, would be a good fit for an executive role in an international organization.

Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) is one of the largest consulting firms in the world. Within Andersen Consulting, I worked in the Financial Services Division, which rendered its consultancies to Italian banks and financial institutions. Worked on different projects (Treasury, Portfolio Management, General Ledger) with the major Italian banks.Coordinated the P.R. activities concerning the Italian executives contacted for the Delphi Study on the Evolution of European Capital Markets (Results of study published by "The Economist").Designed graphic presentations and brochure covers for study results material. As Chief Financial Officer of UMIT, my responsibilities included: Accounting, Fiscal & Tax, Budgeting, Reporting, Forecast, Business Affairs, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, Statutory Books, Credit Collection, Royalties & Copyrights, IT, Human Resources, and General Services. Functional responsibility over logistics and distribution. Managed a team of 28 people. Direct report to Country Managing Director. Functional report to Universal Music International Chief Financial Officer (London, UK).Managed the merge between Universal Music S.p.A. and PolyGram in Italy. Achieved total annual savings in excess of 6.7 Million Euro. Negotiated contract renewals with most important artists of UMIT local roster such as Zucchero, Jovanotti, Antonacci, Grignani, Renga, Nannini and Negrita. Achieved or exceeded CFFO targets in the last three years.

In addition to the CFO functions, I took charge of other divisions and business areas. Eventually, I managed a total staff of 41 (out of a total of 80).
