Working with children of this age is a hopeful blessing. They are new in their walk in life and everything is exciting. They are eager to grow big and learn more. By entertaining them and providing a leading example, I know that I am quietly making a difference in a young child's life and even if I do not see the results now, I know later, what I have done and the direction I have provided will prove to be an everlasting memory in each of the children we have been so blessed to work with. If only you could hear them say, "I love you." That exclamation is my immediate reward.

Typesetter with clerical duties, filing, advertisement sales verification's, simple advertisement design & inserting business ads into Adobe InDesign to prepare for publication, exporting items to PDF formats and sending various written & display ads out to "nationwide" newspapers for print. Answering telephones, faxing, checking company email, problem-solving, internet research for necessary company logos, calculating both ad sizes & client costs for publication, editing ads after ads were sent to editor and returned, and editing ads per customer request.

I worked in a very fast paced, multi-task office environment where deadlines were required to be met on a daily & weekly basis. In the midst of editing and typesetting I was required to stop and verify telephone advertisement sales and also answered a multi-line phone system. I also worked with editors & account managers at newspaper firms across the country.

Job Description & Duties: Lock box attendant and lobby greeter, secretarial duties, data processing clerk, lobby & drive-in teller. I was a "jill of all trades" in this position, moving around as a bank teller, between three different branches, I would fill in as the schedule deemed necessary.

Beginning as a lock box attendant and main branch secretary, I got my foot in the door of the banking industry. I greeted customers and answered a multi-line telephone switchboard for the bank. while transferring phone calls to different departments, as well as two other bank branches. I later assisted in the data processing department with bank encoding, sorting, and micro film research. Before leaving I became a Customer Service Representative in charge of opening new checking & savings accounts, which often required bank account reconciliation and error research. I also opened certificates of deposits and savings bonds. Good customer service skills & the ability to handle sticky situations was a must!

Job Description & Duties:

At the ripe age of sixteen, I was fortunate enough to land my first clerical role in an optometry office. Beginning by telephoning clients and reminding them of their scheduled appointments, I, at first, worked only evenings with a call-back quota in which I was required to not only meet, but report. I telephoned the previous years clients to remind them that it was necessary to once again schedule an appointment for their yearly eye exam. I pulled patient folders for the upcoming weeks appointments and refiled those folders after the patients needs were met. I was also required to fold & stuff envelopes for a bulk mailing list which required the use of a postage meter & specifics necessary set forth by the postal service.

I then was introduced to the technical aspect of the optometry field. This included, but was not limited to; monitoring patient blood pressure, glaucoma testing, assisting patients with their choice of eyeglass frames & lenses, the ordering of those lenses with the necessary specs to ensure that the correct prescription arrived in a timely manner, fitting patients with both their eyeglasses & contacts, adjusting & repairing eyeglass frames, and sometimes -the removal of hard contact lenses for the more elite patient. By the end of my employment, I was given an outstanding work reference and a beautiful letter of recommendation which would later in life assist me in forming new & stronger work relationships. It was as if that old optometrist was saying, "Here's looking at you, kid!"
