I have been a writer and editor for seven years and as a PR/communications writer and manager I have worked in international, agency, freelance and in-house settings. I write for a wide range of business and consumer-focused publications and materials published in various digital and traditional media.

My writing has appeared on websites, blogs and microblogs, in newspapers, magazines and books and has been mainly for clients and employers who specialise in technology and the new media field. I believe strongly in the power of internet and social media tools and not just for its own sake, so applying it to my work comes naturally. They have been fundamental to my work in terms of research, networking, as a source of topics and to track trends. I am experienced in channelling complex information into easy-to-read copy. In a nutshell, I pride myself on crafting engaging, honest, punchy and succinct copy. And I avoid using jargon at all costs.

I have a knack for quickly adopting organisations’ style, tone and culture and adapt smoothly to new topics and audiences. I never underestimate the importance of deeply researching a company and target audience and really talking to clients at the start of a project until style, tone and key messages to be conveyed through the content are crystal clear. Online and offline corporate copywriting and copy refreshing experience (including industry reports, case studies, training manuals, user guides, sales and ‘lead generation’ tools, website landing pages and press releases) has finely-tuned my sensitivity to brand. It also means I automatically apply company tone, style and corporate messages throughout a project and I can be relied upon to turn even colourless data into snappy, interesting content.

But a background and continuing work in mainly online journalism has given me good news sense, analytical skills and the ability to steer clear of the 'hard sell' and instead write credible and compelling content – simply put: ‘a good read.’ This background has also stood me in very good stead for my PR work as I bring experience from "the other side." During my time as a PR manager at a global technology firm's headquarters, I worked closely with marketing teams in several departments andmanaged international campaigns people as well as a heavy workload. My confidence and ability to balance commercial sensitivity with a natural creative flair came into its own.

Previous employers will attest I stay level-headed at work and switch on my natural tenacity and highly organised way of working – even when the pressure is on. I’m easy to get on with and a whizz when it comes to creating or refreshing uninspiring copy without overegging the pudding. My written and verbal communication skills would be boon for any company in an ad-hoc or contractual capacity.
