About Melanie Illich MD

For over a decade, Melanie Illich, MD, has operated a solo psychiatry office in Waco, Texas. She provides psychotherapy and medication management for outpatients in a region where there is a shortage of psychiatric services. Experienced in treating of a broad range of conditions, Melanie Illich, MD, concentrates her practice on women’s issues, mood disorders, trauma-related disturbances, and obsessive compulsive disorder.

Prior to entering private practice, Melanie Illich, MD, served as the first psychiatrist recruited to the Waco area by Providence Health Alliance. In this role, she oversaw a high-volume outpatient practice while concurrently performing inpatient care at Providence DePaul Center and consulting for Providence Hospital. She has also conducted triage evaluations and treatment for retired service members as a staff psychiatrist for the emergency psychiatric walk-in clinic at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Illich has taught as an assistant professor for the Baylor College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and delivered lectures at such institutions as Texas Women’s University and the University of Houston Graduate School of Social Work. A fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, she also belongs to such organizations as the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians and the Texas Medical Association.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Melanie Illich, MD, enjoys swimming to stay fit, reading, and getting together with friends. She supports education in her community and has received designation as a Diamond Partner from the Midway Independent School District for her longstanding contributions.
