Mehran Moussavian, D.O., is CEO and practicing cardiologist at his private practice, the Cardiovascular Institute of San Diego, Inc. Establishing the office in 2005, Dr. Moussavian also joined the staff of Chula Vista Medical Center that year, serving as interventional cardiologist for both the Sharp and Scripps offices. Dr. Mehran Moussavian has earned the status of Diplomate of the American Boards of Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology, a Fellowship designation with the American College of Cardiology, and board certification in internal medicine.After earning an undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Connecticut, Dr. Mehran Moussavian gained admission to the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Osteopathy. After graduation, he obtained an internship with the Primary Care Program at Yale University, progressing through the ranks of junior resident and senior resident, and finishing his time there as chief medical resident.Dr. Moussavian spent three years as a cardiology fellow with the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, and subsequently completed two additional years with the institution in two interventional cardiology fellowships. The doctor also served as a staff physician at Community Memorial Hospital, prior to establishing his private practice in 2005.Mehran Moussavian, D.O. has co-authored several publications and served as principal investigator and subinvestigator for many studies pertaining to restenosis and stents. Many of the doctor’s studies test methods of preventing restenosis, or the re-occurrence of restriction of blood vessels (also called re-occlusion), in stents after they have been used in patient treatments. Dr. Moussavian donates annually to the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology, as well as homeless shelters in the Chula Vista area. In his spare time, he enjoys keeping physically active by running, working out, and gardening.
