Megan Stecher is an Emmy nominated reporter, living and working in Philadelphia. She was most recently seen on NBC 10 Traffic giving Delaware Valley viewers the latest Shore Traffic on the weekends. Previously Megan worked as a full time writer/researcher for StudioTEN Creative Group, an NBC10, WCAU-TV property located in Bala Cynwyd, PA. She was hired after functioning as the Entertainment Reporter for digphillyTV, produced by StudioTEN Creative Group. Megan hosted the segment Movies, Music and More each Saturday, as well as writing and reporting for the show. In August 2009, Megan received an Emmy nomination as Reporter for digphillyTV, in the Entertainment - Program/Special category.
Megan was recruited for digphillyTV after she was spotted by a StudioTEN employee while she was a panelist for the NATAS Mid-Atlantic Chapter’s panel discussion “How to Get Your First Job in Television,” in February 2008.At the time, Megan worked as a member of the 5-person on-air team The CW Crew at The CW Philly 57, WPSG-TV.She also worked for the duopoly of CBS 3, KYW-TV and The CW Philly 57, WPSG-TV as the Promotion Coordinator from April 2005 – March 2008.
Prior to moving to Philadelphia, Megan started her career in Hunt Valley, Maryland at the Sinclair Broadcast Group Headquarters as a Promotions Editor.
Megan graduated Cum Laude in May 2004 from Towson University, in Maryland. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Media and Film, with a concentration in Television, and minor in Mass Communication. While attending Towson University, she produced a documentary that placed second at the school's 2004 Film Festival, entitled "Music in Maryland".
As a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, Megan was involved in fundraising and volunteering for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation while in college. She has remained active with the Komen Foundation by participating in the organization's signature Race for the Cure event in Philadelphia.
Megan is originally from Landenberg, in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania and attended Avon Grove High School. While in high school she participated in competitive cheerleading, winning a national title and was named an All-American Cheerleader by the National Cheerleaders Association for her superior skills.
Recognizing Megan's potential for success in the television industry, her elementary school principal labeled her "a little Katie Couric."
Megan was also seen on the Ladies Night Out commercial for the Philadelphia 76ers and was in the feature film "The Bounty Hunter," starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler. She can also be see in the yet-to-be-titled James L. Brooks film starring Reese Witherspoon and Owen Wilson, and "The Dark Fields," starring Bradley Cooper. She resides in Center City, Philadelphia.
