Summary

As a recent graduate from Lund University, with a MSc degree in Sociology of European Law, I have in this period also undertaken several exceptional traineeships in both the public and private sector. These placements allowed my academic background to flourish in a purposeful setting, giving me the opportunity to prove my comprehensive knowledge of EU (external) affairs, law and policy and international relations, enabling me to become an accomplished researcher in these high profile sectors in the process.

Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the EU

The RELEX Working Party deals with financial,legal and institutional aspects of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP). This placement allowed me to specialise in counter-terrorist sanctions, in respect of my Master thesis. My tasks consisted of supporting the Netherlands' delegation to the Working Party by preparing, attending and reporting on its meetings.

As a trainee for ICODA European Affairs' office in Brussels, my tasks included monitoring EU-legislation, writing newsletters on EU-financial topics, analysing EU-legislation, organising work visits to the EU and answering specific legal questions posed by EU citizens in the Your Europe Advice service.
