Summary

As a recent graduate from Lund University, with a MSc Research Degree in Sociology of Law, I have during this time also undertaken several exceptional traineeships in both the public and private sector. These placements allowed my academic background to flourish in a purposeful setting, giving me the opportunity to prove my comprehensive knowledge of sanctions, law, EU affairs, public policy and international relations, enabling me to become an accomplished researcher and participant in these high profile sectors in the process. I would like to put this knowledge to work in a challenging and commercial environment.

The RELEX Working Party of the Council of the European Union deals with financial, legal and institutional aspects of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP). This placement allowed me to specialise in counter-terrorist sanctions, tying in well with my Master thesis. My tasks not only consisted of supporting the Netherlands' delegation to the Working Party by preparing, minute taking and delivering high quality reports on its meetings, but also included representing the Netherlands in both informal and formal Council meetings, and  personally delivering the Netherlands position on complex CFSP matters to the other EU Member States.
