Work experience

Sep 2010Present

Surface Treatment Engineer

At Eurocopter I work at the Material and Processes Department.

Most of time I work on surface treatments of magnesium and aluminium alloys. I am testing different treatments and primers to protect the surface against corrosion and to improve the paint adhesion. All with a greener production process and European regulations in mind.

To achieve that I need to collaborate with R&D departments, Design Office, different production units, laboratory, suppliers, other aerospace companies with which there are joint projects and my colleagues of course. New and innovative treatments and some laboratory tests I execute myself.

I also support the production and provide technical assistance.

Internship - Surface Treatment Engineer

Evaluation of different new surface treatments on light alloys (aluminium and magnesium) to respond to European environmental legislations.Development of accelerated aging test to differentiate corrosion resistance of different surface treatments on magnesium since salt spray test is too aggressive for magnesium. This internship was only possible with the colloboration of VIK, the flemisch chamber of engineers.
