I currently am a data analytics engineer Kuali. We create beautifully designed, cloud-delivered products that simplify college and university operations, and I am personally building out the data platform using various technologies (Node.js, React, D3.js, MongoDB, MySQL, Oracle Database, Redshift, AWS Kinesis, Docker, etc.).
Previously, I managed the database team at the LDS Church, which provides database solutions that power most of the applications of the Church. I also reached my goal of passing the certification tests to become an OCP (Oracle Certified Professional), and I have become a proficient DBA.
Before my work at the LDS Church, I worked as Regional Marketing Director representing Hartford's annuity products in Utah and Southern Idaho. I reached my goal to grow sales in my territory by 20% over the period in which I was with Hartford.
In previous positions, I have designed, implemented and managed database-driven application projects for a major university and a worldwide nonprofit organization. I also managed a team of sales professionals and was part of the top team in the company.
Managed team of 24 database engineers/administrators. We architected and operated database solutions (Oracle and SQL Server) for the enterprise. Our team set standards, provided documentation, and generally set the direction for database practices. I personally managed all the projects that our team produced and ensured that databases were available, were performing well, and were meeting security requirements.
Worked as a Database Engineer at the LDS Church in the Information and Communications Department. I managed several Oracle databases used by the Church that track humanitarian service projects, manage travel processes and visas for missionaries, manage physical security (badges, cameras, etc.), maintain audit information, run the church e-commerce site, and provide facilities management for the properties of the Church. I have reached my goal of passing the certification tests to become an OCP (Oracle Certified Professional).
Was the Regional Marketing Director for The Hartford Leaders Variable Annuity product in Utah and Southern Idaho. I called on financial advisers and representatives of various firms to teach them about the potential benefits that the Hartford annuities could have for their clients in helping them to reach their investment objectives. I also handled the fixed annuity business and generated leads for our 401K specialist.
Developed applications for the Wheelchair Foundation, including administrative and member logins, database-driven wheelchair deliveries graphs and maps created with Macromedia Flash, embedded streaming video, 3-dimensional virtual tour of the wheelchair, news and media content management system, mass email with tracking and reporting, online donation tracking and statistical reports, etc. Technologies employed: Adobe CS2, Macromedia Suite(Coldfusion, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Windows Media Streaming Server, MySQL, ASP, etc. Managed a network consistingof30+ computers, wireless access points, routers, switches, etc. Authored company business card CD and several DVDs, designed layout of newsletters, mailers, and other print media that goes out to mailing list of 50, 000 subscribers(using QuarkXpress and InDesign), developed e-newsletter and helped build accompanying email list of 10, 000 subscribers.
Designed and implemented database-driven applications for the Marriott School of Management including news and media releases, the internship grading website, a faculty profile system, online applications for undergraduate applicants, the room scheduler system, the MBA program recruit tracker, and various departmental sites Worked on a team of five web developers, along with twenty External Relations office employees including graphics designers, editors, news staff members, etc. Page2 Set up and maintained ODBC and OLEDB datasources with ColdFusion administrator to connect to AS/400, Oracle, and Access databases, as well as administering mappings, caching, session variables, mail server, server logs for performance analysis, and other server configuration settings.
