Mary Swieringa

Mental Health Counselor

Summary

I strive to seek new challenges which will allow me to utilize my leadership and therapeutic skills, while advocating for individuals in crisis or seeking therapy due to individual circumstances. My experience as a mental health counselor has allowed me the opportunity to increase sensitivity towards those in need. Each client is seen as an individual with a unique story, that only they can tell. My professional and life experiences working with troubled youth and adults, raising two chronically ill children, providing respite and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health and behavioral issues as well as individual and group counseling, has allowed me to gain flexibility, a non-judgmental attitude and compassion, while meeting the individual and/or family's needs. It is my desire to stimulate personal accountability which would be used as a tool of empowerment, as well as to network with the client and his available support system, while providing individual treatment.
