As a highly effective high school English teacher, I have continually demonstrated the ability to organize my time and resources to best complete the multitude of tasks placed before me every day. Through my effective written and verbal communication with students, coworkers, administrators, and community members, I have become adept at tailoring diction and tone as well as content to attend to the appropriate purpose of communication, and I enjoy reviewing written content to ensure it is clear and relevant. In addition, as Student Council Class Sponsor for three years, I developed experience in budgeting, organizing and assisting in fundraising activities and events, and overseeing communication efforts among the class and its officers. As a result of my ten plus years of teaching, I have shown myself to be a reliable, receptive co-worker who is able to adapt to changing situations.

MS OFFICE/TECHNOLOGY
Daily experience with Word and PowerPoint, occasional Excel, Google Apps, and Adobe use; routine use of presentation technology. Update and maintain online classroom management program.
ORGANIZATIONAL
Tracking data and paperwork for almost 150 students seen daily; coordinating committees, maintaining professional development records; scheduling tasks in order of importance; meeting deadlines; daily email onslaught. Organization means survival.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATION
Able to construct emails, letters, and various other documents to effectively communicate expectations, concerns, or key data points without letting mechanics, usage, and grammar errors interfere with understanding.
CURRICULUM
Created two classes (one an AP course) and taught fifteen different preps in ten years resulting in the ability to effectively plan lessons, strategize due dates, adapt to interruptions, incorporate technology, address a wide range of student abilities, and modify requirements to fit changing standards and requirements to please local, state, and national expectations.
EDITING
Grading 600-1000 essays per year means attention to common writing errors; the ability to provide both written and verbal feedback to express areas of concern as well as effectiveness; familiarity with MLA formatting; some experience with AP Style; willing and able to find and use resources to ensure requirements are met; recently proofread and edit promotional packet for Robotics club; I AM a fan of the Oxford comma.
VERBAL COMMUNICATION
Adept at explaining concepts in everyday terms while holding the attention of a room full of teenagers who would probably rather be sleeping or playing video games. Able to adjust my tone and diction to changing purposes and group dynamics.
